"Why do you guys exist?"

I saw the funniest thing today. There was a sign on a street post at 88th Ave and I-25 in Thornton, Co. The sign said "Become a homeowner for $500." Over the phone number on the sign there was yet another piece of paper that had this web address on it. It claimed that the paper underneath it was illegal. Does that mean that the causs.org sign is also illegal? If the first sign is illegal, then I would be sure that so would causs.org. Is this your way of taking the law into your own hands by breaking the same laws that you are trying to stop others from breaking?
OK, so I am trying to understand why you people have nothing better to do that build a website and go around "POSTING YOUR OWN SIGNS" on street corners trying to fight against the rest of the public on an issue that affects NOBODY.
I have spoken with an Adams county judge here in Thornton, CO and he said there were no laws on the books about street postings or "spam" as you call it. The only way it is illegal is if it falls off the post and hits the ground. Then it is littering. Even then, if the material is biodegradable, it has to be in excess of .5 Lbs. of material. So, where does the "It's illegal" come in on your campaign?
Also, do you people feel that it is right to try to persecute every day folks and small businesses for free enterprise? A lot of money is spent on advertising these days and a lot of small businesses are just trying to turn a profit, let alone have an advertising budget. Why don't you people do something good for the community and quit wasting everyone's time?

Hi:

Glad we could add a little humor to your day.

Check with Code Enforcement. We work closely with CE in metro-Denver cities.

No, it's our way of getting rid of illegal street spam. See our FAQ.

Oh - that's because we care about our community and we don't want illegal signs on our street corners.

Check with Code Enforcement - that's their job.

Yes. If someone puts up an illegal sign that is an eyesore in our community, you bet well work to eliminate it. We have removed thousands of signs over the last few years. Imagine what every corner would look like if we hadn't done so. Oh, I forgot - there's a picture of one of those corners on our website.

So it's ok for them to break the law and trash our communities?

We do. Please desist from putting up your illegal signs.

Glad that you see some humor in the situation.
If it bothers you all that much then take it down, that's what most folks
do after it's been disabled for a couple of days.
Checked with a county judge, did you?
Really no need for that, pull up the state laws and city codes, they're on the web.

When the spam disappears, so do the stickers.
If you're not part of the solution, then you must be part of the problem.

Litter affects nobody? Would you like to see more illegal litter in your community, on your street corners, or even plastered on the sides of your place of business?

>I have spoken with an Adams county judge here in Thornton,

Really? I just found this from checking the City of Thornton web site:
http://www.ci.thornton.co.us/comd/signinfo.asp

Also, according to http://www.ci.thornton.co.us/comd/muny_code.asp section 18-1056 says that all temporary signs must be freestanding and must have a permit. They have to be located 150 feet away from all intersections, as well.

Litter less than half a pound is legal? I'll tell you what: I'll go to McDonalds every day, grab a Quarter Pounder combo, and throw the bag and debris on your property when I'm finished. I'll make sure the litter weighs less than half a pound. Maybe you wouldn't notice the first bag of litter, but you'd notice after five, ten, or twenty bags of litter.

>Also, do you people feel that it is right to try

We don't try and persecute all folks and small businesses -- just the ones who put up signs illegally.

"Doing something good for the community" doesn't always equate to "doing something good for one specific business putting up illegal signs". CAUSS does something good for the community as a whole. If that impacts a specific business, and if that business was doing something illegally anyway, too bad.
