"great news!"

LAST EDITED ON 03-20-02 AT 10:23 AM (CST)

Many thanks to "cowboy clown" for breaking the news that Herbalife has instituted an official "no illegal signs" policy.

It's on the Herbalife website at: <http://www.herbalife.com/us/Frames.asp?main=/us/Utilities/Search/Index.asp&left=/us/Utilities/Left.asp&top=/us/Top.asp>

If this doesn't work, just go to herbalife.com and use the search engine for "signs."

Dang, too bad it's too early for a beer. I feel like celebrating.

Let's all make they enforce it, though, and be sure to keep ripping the signs down .

Look out, Mega Insurance. You're next.

After a quick wander through various international versions of herbalife.com, I've found that only the US and Canada have new sign policies.

It's a great win for us, but I bet the rest of the world is going to still be digging themselves out from under coroplast for years.

By the way, if this really does turn out to be the end of Herbalife on our streets (fingers crossed) what's everyone going to do for their next hobby? I'm going to dedicate my spring and summer to large amounts of skydiving!

I can't believe it!!

"With the ever-increasing proliferation of advertising and promotional signs on public property, maintaining the integrity of Herbalife and its brand image is becoming more and more difficult"

Hooray!! It was starting to hurt their company image! Right on!

A big win for the crying indian & the staff at CAUSS! No company even comes close to slathering the streets of Sacramento like Herbalife. I bet this will make a big difference.

Yes, this is a great first step towards respectability for Herbalife. The vast majority of the signs I've collected in the Sacramento area have been Herbalife. From what I've seen on my travels other parts of California are still drowning in street spam.

I look forward to being able to drive around without having to stop and remove coroplast.

Now I'm jealous. My wife doesn't demand much from me, but she did put one condition on getting married: I had to promise that whenever I'm in a perfectly good airplane, I have to stay inside it until it lands.

Just because of that one little time I ended up in the lake...and the other time with the month in the hospital...

How unfair! Wives are like that. Many's the time I've seen handwritten announcements on the wall saying "Hey everyone! I'm getting married next Sunday and you're all invited" then underneath that in the same handwriting, "Gear for sale."

>How unfair! Wives are like that.

It's kinda hard for me to argue with her when she has the numbers on her side: 14 broken bones, 11 surgeries, and 1 Teflon kneecap.

That does add up to 1 husband who needs to be protected from his own stupidity, I guess.

But I do miss jumping. Never got to do it with a wing like you all use these days - that looks like a blast, and a lot safer landing - not to mention the better directional control.

O ye of little faith. Ask and ye shall receive:

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 2002--Timothy J. Sweeney, Senior Vice President for Finance and Compliance of Herbalife International, Inc. (NASDAQ NM:HERBA - NASDAQ NM:HERBB), today announced the expansion of its new sign restriction policy on a worldwide basis.

Last week, Herbalife announced a new policy in the United States and Canada to prohibit its Independent Distributors from posting advertising signs on any public property or on any private property without the express permission of the owner, even if such posting is allowed by state or local laws.

Today, Mr. Sweeney announced the expansion of that policy to its Independent Distributor activities in all countries where Herbalife conducts business.

``The expansion of our new policy is a logical step in providing our Distributors with clear and consistent guidance regarding our new sign policies on a worldwide basis,'' said Mr. Sweeney. ``We appreciate the overwhelming support we have received from our Distributors regarding this new policy, as well as the support of the public and numerous Code Enforcement officials throughout the United States and the world.''

Herbalife manufactures a wide range of nutritional, weight management and personal care items and markets them in 54 countries worldwide through a network of Independent Distributors who purchase the products directly from the Company. In 2001, the Company had net retail sales of $1.66 billion.

Yes, I have little faith. Make that no faith. When Herbalife displays verifiable action, I will believe. In the meantime, it's just words. And the signs are still going up.

If Mr. Sweeney is sincere, he will:

1) Provide clear reporting mechanisms
2) Take quick, definitive action against violations
3) Provide feedback to the compaintant

and we will quickly see:

4) A marked, immediate diminishment of signs

So far none of this is evident. I'll wait until May One to start judging, but I'm already gathering information for that judgement. If this turns out to be another Herbalife scam, I'm not going to be happy at all. Not one bit.
