"Tell me what you think about my new concept"

Tell me what you think about my new concept to deal with spam.

I was thinking about getting an untraceable local phone number and then have stickers made up of multiple sizes with the phone number printed on them. I would apply the stickers to illegal signs covering the spammer’s phone number, thus replacing the spammer’s phone number with my phone number. I would then apply a recorded message to my phone number that would say something like:

“WARNING, WARNING, WARNING, Please listen to this entire message! You are contributing to and allowing illegal activity to continue by soliciting illegal advertisements posted on public utilities. Please do not solicit advertisements that are posted on utility poles, street lights, traffic devices or any illegal advertisements posted on any public property. You may also be putting your HEATH AND SAFETY at great risk by exposing yourself and your family to unknown individuals and possibly unlicensed contractors who may be out to fraud you………. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED………. please do not use any services who advertise this way. To add, it is your tax dollars that are used to clean up these illegal signs, these illegal advertisements are also damaging to public property which can lower property values and are a drain on local code enforcement and city resources. Thank you and be sure to warn your family and friends to not solicit anyone that use illegal advertisements to promote their business. Please be a good citizen and help remove illegal signs from public right of ways. Thank You”

Your thoughts.

Making a positive difference!

I like it!

Before you do it, reflect on any possible legal ramifications.

Cheers,

Methinks you coopted illegal, ugly spam litter for your own purposes. It's still a blight.

Oh, there's a hint of cool in the air, and Winter is coming! I've got to gather more firewood... And Sign stakes make great fire starters!

Ack! Bandit Signs are LITTER!

I agree with the others - just remove the signs. You are already spending your gas to take the signs down, why spend more on the phone.

You got me thinking. What could we do with an APP for that.

A phone number would be great, I like the idea alot. It would be targeting the end user, who is really contributing to the problem. But, how about taking it another step and getting and APP for that? This might help get the more tech savy guru involved in their community clean up.

Couldn't an APP have the sign location and list the companies who routinely violate code in cities and town across the US. Yu could track the violation from city to city. Ey?.Just think how many 1-800 Junk violation would be poping up.

The last year we had very little L"litter here in the valley Las Vegas. It went from daily removal o monthly soradic removal.

But what has happened herein the last year is Code or the Spamkies have moved their signage onto electric boxes along the roadways as an effort to avoid prosecution. That is not the problem. The problem with this new method is code doesn't seem to mind these new violation or maybe non violation and the signs are getting very difficult to remove about an hour per sign if you have the right chemicals. We could pait over them now but now I;m getting into the restoration business of electrci boxes.

We need new tacit. This might be one way to get the the message out that these signs are illegal and the callers are also contributing to the problem. Code dosn't hear us anymore when it comes to active enforcement (fining) these same old violators. This might help get people educated without asking them to remove the sign.

We still need to work on getting the violations stopped. Get more people involved in policing their own neighborhoods. Me and Mr.Clean are tired of the mess these new signs are creating. Their impossible to remove. After years of kicking these Spamkies at their own game, by simply removing their illegal signage, I'm ready to raise the stakes, get ruthless, unfair, beat them at their game again.

Put sticky signs on traffic control boxes here, and DOT immediately responds proactively. It seems it heats up the microprocessors in them and they have problems.

I not so angry anymore, and will be simply removing these sign violation from now on Tomato Stake. I discovered a simple way to remove these difficult signs glued to ectric boxes.

It actually never was hard. First instinct was to use a scrapper, but when they didn't work, I tried a chemical to loosen up the glue. It was time consuming and expensive. But what I discovered last week while removing some easier to remove glued signs was, water tear up these signs.

Yea, could I be getting senile in my old age? Maybe. Last week, it started to rain for the first time in months. But when it rains here, it is hit and miss in some neighborhoods and it was dark, I could't see what kind of rain we were in for. I firgured I was out at the mountains Edge. hey thats actually the name of the neighborhood there, so I kept pushing on. Thats when I noticed the signs I could't remove before, started getting wet and loosening up. I took out my scrapper, and it came right off.

Today I will be out getting every sign I just simple gave up on in the past, I hope to your delight Tomato Stakes. And I will be filing a report with Code on this chronic violator!

Well…..after much consideration, I will not be acting on this concept; the main reason is the amount of time I would have to spend on the streets to cover all the illegal spam. With the rash of spam throughout our city, I would need thousands upon thousands of stickers and would need to dedicate all my time to this project, which is time I just do not have. I will continue to disable these signs when and where I can.

Making a positive difference!
