November 12, 2011 Neighborhood group advocates against 'road spam'

EDMOND — There’s no word on when the Edmond City Council will begin discussing the work of its sign ordinance review committee, but a local neighborhood group isn’t waiting to make their voice heard on whether the city should allow businesses to have digital signs.
The Edmond Neighborhood Alliance recently debuted a video on its website urging residents to call their City Council representative on the matter. Electronic signs have a range of messaging capabilities including full-color digital options that quickly scroll from one image to the next.
Since the municipal code does not currently allow these types of signs, some businesses have come to the City Council seeking a variance to allow them.
