The Pender County Planning Department is working on creating a new civil summons program to deter businesses from violating county ordinances regarding temporary signs.
Planning Director Kyle Breuer said the idea for the program was developed through planning board and staff recommendations due to requests that something be done "to handle proliferation of illegal temporary signs."
..."We've tried our best to respond to citizens' concerns when they call, but the nature of a temporary sign is very hard to enforce with our current zoning enforcement procedures," Breuer said.
