Fairfield June 14 Referendum opponent says: Our signs were stolen

Published: Wednesday, June 08, 2011

Kate Daniello, founder of a taxpayer watchdog group, complained to police that her illegally placed signs telling people to vote “No” for the June 14 referendum—a referendum that asks if voters want to increase the education budget by $800,000 — had been stolen from the green at the intersection of Burr and Congress Streets.

Of course, it’s illegal to place signs there.

Daniello not only called police to the site to witness the “theft” of the illegal signs, she wrote a letter to various media, enclosing a photo of another sign she placed near the Aspetuck Reservoir, that also looks as though it is illegally placed.

In her letter, Daniello defends herself by saying that others had already placed signs at the Burr and Congress Street site for a tag sale and one for a garden tour.

She said, “Saturday, I went out to place 19 signs only to return a half hour later and find 4 stolen.”

For the rest of the story...
