New Orleans Councilwoman Cracks Down on Illegal Signs
UPTOWN, NEW ORLEANS—
A New Orleans councilwoman is pushing for strict enforcement of a law that's been on the books for decades.
'Bandit signs' are illegal and have been for years, but if drive around the city, you'll see thousands of advertisements, staples and chunks of old torn paper and shreds on utility poles.
A few weeks ago, councilwoman Stacy Head rewrote the ordinance that bans unauthorized signage in the city, making it simple to understand and easy to be enforced. Everyone is asked to help and take down signs.
An uptown photographer, Carroll Grevemberg, is furious about the blight. He says the administration is still slacking on enforcement and punishment.
"Look, if you've seen this close up, it's not just two or three signs and staples, it's 30 years of staples that slowly ruin this infrastructure. It's got to stop because it's an eyesore. It's adding to our blight.

On the ABC website that has the whole story there has been 3 comments. @ from a sign spammer and one from someone who says this rewritten ordinance is just another example of the evil white-man (his hyphen) trying to keep the hood down. I tried to add a comment but it didn't show up? WOW. Betty
