"Tax Refunds Signs with Georgia Connection"

In my neighborhood in New Orleans, dozens of signs have gone up with this text:

Tax Refunds
Not Too Late
1040EZ $49
393-1187 (in 504 area code)

I googled the number and the word tax and came up with this link:

http://www.taxhelpattorney.com/state/Louisiana/Gretna/Mts_Tax_Svc.html

It includes the name and photo of a CPA named Jeff Fouts with an address in Gretna (a nearby suburb).

Using the "contact us" link on that page, I filled out out a form on that site telling him to stop with this illegal and obnoxious behavior. I used an anonymous address I use for sign stuff and immediately received this email, with a Georgia address:

>>>What to Do When the IRS Comes After You...

In these emails, I'm going to give you a crash course in protecting yourself from the IRS. Despite the government's fearful power to take away your wealth and property, there are a number of tactics you can use to protect what's rightfully yours. You can loosely fit these measures into three categories:

1. Immediate/Emergency Action. If you've received notice that the IRS is going to seize your assets within a few days or weeks, there are many stopgap measures designed to save you from instant financial disaster. Some emergency tactics include:

a. Negotiating for extra time
b. Moving your bank accounts or other assets
c. Making a partial payment
d. Entering into an agreement to make monthly payments
e. Having your tax debt classified as Uncollectible
f. Filing a Collection Action Appeal
g. Filing a Collection Due Process Appeal

MUCH CRAP DELETED

I'll tell you more about the medium-term tactics in the next message.

I'd be curious if anyone else has encountered signs connected to this guy.

Also, please feel free to call or email him to let him know how we feel about spammers.

Thanks.

Hey --No tax signs anytime until January or February. Don’t they know the law?

When you complain to the state, the signs stop fast if they like their license. Maybe they forgot the laws and need a reminder.
