"1 800 SPA SALE GETS DRAINED"

1 800 SPA SALE and SignPostersUSA blighted Orange County, California and the city of Long Beach this weekend.

The junk signs read:

HOT TUB BLOW OUT
This Weekend
1 800 SPA SALE

This is part of their ongoing spamming of America discussed in detail in this Forum.

Thanks to all of you and your legitimate outrage at these litterers, I was motivated to yank nearly 200 of the signs Saturday. They had gone up overnight and most barely saw an hour or two of morning sunlight before they ended up sliced and in the Dumpster. The more aggressive we are in pulling their garbage, the quicker they will learn that this form of advertising is a non-starter. They don't listen to reason or obey laws, so killing their action is the only way to stop 1 800 SPA SALE and SignPostersUSA.

Plus, I hope everyone will keeping calling both companies and let them know that dozens of people are organizing to keep their junk out of our cities no matter where they plant their trash. I plan on doing so on a regular basis.

For those of you also fighting these spammers, I believe we are indeed causing them grief. In addition to their normal posting on rights-of-way on major streets, I also noticed they are now posting inside parking entrances and exits for malls and shopping centers. It's an attempt for visibility without being too easily seen by sign pullers like us who drive down major streets spotting spam from our cars. Didn't work for them yesterday.

Both SignPostersUSA and 1 800 SPA SALE are truly horrific spammers. Here, they spammed *every* corner of major intersections with up to eight signs. Sometimes, I picked up dozens of signs within a quarter of a mile.

I'll share a few more observations:

In small print at the bottom of the signs is evidence once again that SignPostersUSA is doing the dirty work. This time, their so-called credit line has interesting new phrasing: "SignPostersUSA is 100% responsible for posting this sign, please contact SignPostersUSA at 1-888-843-8389 or 801-671-7123."

Aside from the bad punctuation, it tells me that our calls to the 1 800 SPA SALE creeps generated conversations between them and SignPostersUSA so that this so-called disclaimer is a way of saying, "yell at us, not 1 800 SPA SALE" when your community gets spammed.

Let's keep calling both numbers and railing against the junk signs.

Another interesting find. A small newspaper ad for the show in the Orange County Register shows this website: www.poolandspashow.com

It took a few attempts but the site finally loaded. It seems that there is a reference to Brasco Productions, although I couldn't find anything on them via a Google search. They may be the morons behind these shows. The site has a calendar where we can be alerted to upcoming events in order to plan street spam removal. The site loaded so slowly that this feature didn't work for me, so I'll try again.

Keep an eye out, though, the site says their are upcoming shows in these cities: Detroit, Chicago, San Diego, Seattle, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Cleveland, Indianapolis, St. Louis and "many more to come."

One other observation. When I call 1 800 SPA SALE, I get a recording to the effect that "we are so busy because of the popularity of our spa sale that we can't answer your call so please leave a message." These guys aren't the swiftest of marketeers. Not only do their signs not give any indication about where the show is being held, but their voicemail doesn't either. I was able to find out that it was at the Anaheim Convention Center, but you'd really have to be a detective to figure out how to attend one of their events.

By the way, with just the addion of one letter 1 800 SPA SALE becomes 1 800 SPAM SALE. That's truth in advertising.

"It's 10 p.m. Do you know what Dumpster your street spam is sleeping in?"

Way to go!

About 200 per night was what I removed in the Salt Lake area.

Let's keep on these jerks.

>I was able to find out that it was
>at the Anaheim Convention Center,

Isn’t the Anaheim Convention Center run by the city? Contact the officials in charge of the Anaheim Convention Center to let them know that they are leasing space to a company that blatantly and deliberately violate there cities own laws.

“1-800 SPA(M)-SALE” wants to exhibit at high profile locations. Most if not all high profile locations would not put up with this type of activity that ties them to a blatant law breaker, not to mention, someone that trashes their neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods.

I suggest that we ALL pull together and when “1-800 SPA(M)-SALE” visits someone’s city, we contact the location that this scum is leasing space from. Find out who the General Manager is and post their name and phone number on this site so everyone from CAUSS that truly cares about every city, not just their own, can help support you by contacting the General Manager to let them know their dissatisfaction. This worked in Las Vegas thanks to the five or six of you that supported me with phone calls to the manager of the Sunset Station Hotel & Casino. The end result was that the Sunset Station Hotel & Casino will no longer lease to “1-800 SPA(M)-SALE”.

It’s important that when contacting the location, we are polite with the people we are speaking with. These people are just doing their job and in most cases, don’t know of the illegal activities that “1-800 SPA(M)-SALE” is partaking in. If we are respectful to them, in turn, I’m sure that they will be respectful to us and want to do the right thing. The end result, we need to make it difficult for “1-800 SPA(M)-SALE” to find high profile locations to set up shop.

“1-800 SPA(M)-SALE” has been quiet in Las Vegas and that’s just the way I intend to keep it.

Making a difference and keeping it clean

Clean_Sweep,

Thanks for the excellent suggestion. I sent the following e-mail message to the Anaheim Convention Center management; I'll let everyone know what I hear back.

I agree with you, we need to pursue SignPostersUSA and 1 800 SPA SALE with a vengeance: removing their signs, calling them to protest their spamming, etc.

-----------------------------------------

I understand that this weekend the 1 800 SPA SALE show took place at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The sponsors of this show illegally placed hundreds of promotional signs throughout Orange County and Long Beach promoting the show. These so-called "bandit signs" were in rights-of-way, street corners, on business commercial property and blocking sidewalks. Concerned citizens removed hundreds of the signs in Orange County this weekend, the second time in just a few months the 1 800 SPA SALE show sponsors have violated city ordinances by placing their illegal signs.

The 1 800 SPA SALE show sponsors have raised anger across the United States in cities where they persist in placing illegal signs. They persist in violating laws, despite being asked not to place signs in cities such as Las Vegas, cities in Orange County, cities in Utah, etc. You can read more about their bad business practices by logging into the discussion forums at the website for Citizens Against Ugly Street Spam at: http://www.causs.org

I wanted to bring this matter to your attention since I know the Anaheim Convention Center wants to work with reputable show producers and wants to maintain its good name and reputation.

Thank you.

Just saw this. 801-671 is a cellphone exchange in Salt Lake. Some of the numbers appear from time to time in Provo as well. I've known people who have and have had 801-671 phone numbers, it's one of the big wireless providers that has that pool of numbers.

So if you can call him long distance, you can run up his bill. Especially if we make him use up his minutes talking to us.

I got nothing but the first page with the bubbles. Brasco seems to be a web site developer, probably in Chicago.

If you ever get back to the schedule page, please post the dates here.

They are having a show in Pomona, California this weekend.

Anyone in Southern California is invited to join me in yanking up their illegal junk signs should they appear (usually hundreds can be harvested when these abusers decide to street spam).

Thanks.

Just looked up the registration for poolandspashow.com. Does this ring a bell with anyone? He's hiding behind a 'private registration'.
