"IS KMART THE NEW HERBALIFE?"

KMART celebrated Labor Day by spamming the nation.

This was a combo spam weekend on KMART's part: Store closing spam plus 50 Per Cent Off Sale! spam.

This thug corporatiion is angling to be the next Herbalife. They knowingly plaster America with illegal advertising signs and truly don't care.

Suggestion: Every CAUSS member could make it a goal to remove at least 10 illegally placed KMART street spams this weekend. The effect across America would be impressive.

We met our quota this weekend and then some (including 4-foot high street spam that had to cost $20 apiece; these were routinely on other businesses' property, rights-of-way, etc.).

Most audacious of all is that KMART even placed their junk at the entrance driveways in front of the local Target. Capitalism is one thing, but that's just dirty marketing.

Please...let's all remove KMART's coroplast junk and make their 50% Off and Store Closing sales a real bust.

ADDITIONAL FUN NOTE OF THE WEEK: We got a load of furniture coroplast that looked like the work of Pemco. This spam was really outlandishly hammered to telephone poles so that it somewhat blocked the sidewalk for any pedestrians. We make a return trip later that day and saw only two lonely sign twirlers breathing in the carbon monoxide for out 8 hours straight. Three signs had been re-hammered to the telephone poles in the same manner, but we got those too. Perhaps the furniture store had no signs in reserve save for this paltry attempt at replenishment. Guess their Big Labor Day Weekend Sales Event kind of turned into a Non-Event thanks to CAUSS.

Not in the DFW metoplex they aren't.
When they tried to pull off their spamming act, we basically nipped it in the bud.

There was one area where the spammers were real persisent and one of our sharks had a head to head confrontation which lasted about one minute.
The shark advised the spammer that he best be on his way or he would call the division precinct police captain and a charge would be filed for littering, which is a $1000 fine in TX.

They were bringing in out-of-state spammers to flood every major intersection in a large part of North Dallas where serveral stores were targeted for closures.

After about the second week the signs were being dispatched just about as fast as they were being put up. The were several neighborhod homeowner associations that got into the act and were removing the signs on their Saturday morning trash sweeps.

The business about the spammer saying that they have the courts permission to put up spam is nothing but BS. The courts don't issue orders that conflict with existing law, especially when it comes to trashing the enviornment.

K-Mart is desperate. They are dying. K-Mart is caught between Target and Wal-Mart and can't compete with either one. And, all of the dollar store types are cutting into K-Mart's business, too. Not many, if any, K-Mart stores are left in the DFW area. Never give up.

Would it be ok if I got 200?

You are going to remove 200 illegal K-Mart coroplast signs? And create a National Coroplast Shortage?

Hold on, I am calling Homeland Security!

Our Mesa, Arizona, Code Enforcement must be all over our Kmart in East Mesa!

About a week ago, Kmart had spammed a side street with large coroplast signs on every palm tree, light pole, and stop sign.

This weekend, I took note of your warning and made a trip over there. There were NO Kmart street spam signs! I couldn't believe it! The Mesa Code Enforcement Officers must have scared them good, or they would have spammed us again!

Good job Code Enforcement! My hat's off to you!

Best regards,
NoSpam

Also call their ethics team at 800-257-9060, open round the clock.

See the initial thread, I've posted some info about what to tell them, and how to email them evidence that the spam is illegal, including emailing photographs to the ethics compliance people.

Well, I got a half dozen, but it wasn't for lack of trying.

There's a Kmart within walking distance of my home (I shark on foot), and they put a bunch of coroplast signs on wooden stakes up on nearby Roosevelt Boulevard (a favorite target for spammers). I pulled up all I could find, then walked toward the Kmart, expecting to find more. Of course, the slim green space around their parking lot was Coroplastered, but I didn't pull any of those (only one was in the ROW). I figure, let 'em be ugly on their own property.

They must be getting killed by the new WalMart on the Boulevard where they spammed. And right nextdoor is a Home Depot.

Same here. I pulled a bunch of spam from the ROW, but not on their property.

At another store that has been previously sharked, I noticed that they did not even bother to put up illegal signs in the ROW

I just got off the phone with the KMart ethics hotline (800-257-9060).

It would be highly advantageous if many Causs members called this line to complain about KMart's illegal street spamming.

The woman who took my complaint said they are a third-party service that forwards complaints to KMart HQ.

You can remain anonymous or provide contact information. In any case, she gave me a report number at the end of the call. On Sept. 24 I can apparently call the ethics hotline back and find out the disposition.

During the call today, the woman who took my complaint basically asked about 15 questions over a 15 minute period. It's good to have the store location and number handy before you call (you can find this via the store locator link in the KMart website).

I essentially used the call for two purposes 1) To complain about a specific KMart store's streeet spamming in my neighborhood and 2) Request that Kmart cease its apparent corporate-wide policy of street spamming America.

Kmart will probably only correct this bad business practice if they collectively receive enough complaints--otherwise they will chalk it up to nuts or fanatics.

The call, as they say, is free. The more Causs members who complain about KMart's street spamming, the more liklihood we are to be successful in ridding ourselves of a true nationwide spammer with the dollars to do it in mass and frequently.

So, please take 15 minutes to call; you'll could be saving yourself hours of KMart street spam removal time later on.

Excellent advice! Folks, please do call in and complain about their spam. They will ask for a specific store location(s).

KMART is truly a thug corporation with no remorse about blighting our neighborhoods.

As suggested I called KMRT's independent ethics hotline back today (the day indicated when Ifiled the initial report).

First, the KMRT hotline recording said that "wait times are longer than normal since we are receiving unusually high call volume."). I see, you mean more and more people are having trouble with KMRT from an ethics perspective such that you can't keep up? Someone needs to rewrite your scripts, KMRT, because you just revealed volumes.

Anyway, when I finally got through I was told that KMRT cannot investigate the illegal sign placement for this particular store further since specific locations of the signs were not provided. That's a lie, since I had given two street names on which hundreds of signs were placed. And, does this mean that the store manager (if they even called him/her, had a total memory freeze about placing hundreds of signs? "Gee, I dunno? Signs on right of ways, at the driveway entrances to competitor's stores? I just can't recall." We aren't talking about two or three signs here, KMRT.

We filed another complaint, this time repeating the street names. The ethics hotline says it will take to Oct. 8 before an update can be provided. By the way, "update" is probably the wrong word. When I first called they promised to communicate the disposition of their investigation into the signs. When I called today, I was told they can't say what they will do about the complaint, but can only say if they need more information from me.

KMRT dodges and weeves more than a drunk driver at 2 a.m. on a Saturday night.

I just called the KMRT ethics hotline--after being told to wait another two weeks for them to investigate my complaint based on new information I provided.

The "new" information was the specific names of the streets on which I saw (removed!) the spam. I provided this the first time, but KMRT claimed they didn't have it.

In my call today, the Ethics Line (clearly an outsourced third-party) said that KMRT had no further updates and no further questions for me.

In other words, "blank you, Mr./Ms. customer--we will spam when and where we want."

I for one will never spend another penny at K-Mart. They lost a customer for life.
