For benefit of those new members that have come onboard during the past few months, we would like to restate the scope of CAUSS.
Our scope is the elimination and removal of bandit signs from our neighborhoods and streets. Also, our scope is not political or making statements regarding politically sponsored organizations. The scope is the removal of litter and abandoned trash in our neighborhoods and streets.
CAUSS does not promote the placement of stickers on bandit signs. However, experience has shown where the spammers were aggressively persistent; the practice of stickering bandit signs has brought in more folks that help in the removal of the unwanted signs.
Regarding – Lost Kitten signs. CAUSS doesn’t promote removal of Lost Kitten signs that are normally confined in a single neighborhood. Normally these signs will disappear within a week or so. However, when they are strewn over a wide area, we normally call code enforcement and them deal with the issue. The same is true for Garage Sale and FSBO type signs. Garage sale signs can be a real nuisance but will normally only be up over a given weekend.
The same goes for Real Estate signs that are in the medians. More times than not, there are serious political considerations regarding the placement of these signs. Again, experience has shown that it’s in the best interest of CAUSS to let CE deal with this issue.
The big thorn is the placement of political signs in the public ROW’s and medians. Most states have laws in place that prohibit such. It’s best to leave this issue with Code Enforcement. Political signs mean serious politics and it’s best stay out of the equation.
We realize that CAUSS can’t be all things to all people. Flyers and bills that are attached to the front doors of our homes are but one example. The same for used cars for sale on vacant lots or ugly bill boards that trash the environment. Those are strictly Code Enforcement issues and best left to Code Enforcement.
So – Then, What is Street Spam? You ask.
Take a look at our examples on this link. This is What CAUSS is all about.
