After stumbling on to this site today I am totally amazed! You people, especially Doggy girl and Denver dude, need some serious help. I cannot believe that you people spend your weekends picking up signs. LOL! We spammers pick up our own signs. Why don't you pick up litter? Isn't that illegal? Isn't litter more unsightly? My God people, get a life! Get a hobby. Get a job! We pay 10 bucks an hour for sign wavers. Don't you have families? Doesn't your little kid play soccer or baseball on the weekends?
I know you morons think you are actually doing something noble and "good for your community," but you're not stopping to apply a little logic to what you are doing. The reason people use signs, is because THEY WORK! Think about it. If it didn't work, nobody would do it. When you try to "hurt" any business in your own community, you only hurt yourself. Do you really think that residents make up all the revenue that cities take in? If business thrives, the community thrives. This is simple economics 101. Cities realize this that's why we NEVER get hassled by code enforcement. Those laws were written because the cities got tired of cleaning up "Garage Sale" and "Lost Pet" signs...Doglovvr. One of you morons picked up all my signs during an event here in Southern California last year and dumped them in the store parking lot. Guess WHO got arrested AND fined! Not us. And it was the Saturday morning of a three-day weekend! The idiot couldn't bail out so he stayed in the click until Tuesday before he was able to see a judge. LMAO! They even impounded his truck. Did you people all attend UC Berkley together or what? How many of you retards voted for John Kerry?

CE doesn't bother us because we know all those guys now. We've been doing it for 2 decades here in So Cal and they all know we pick up our signs on Sunday night.

You people have nothing to be proud of. All you are doing is trying to hurt honest hard working people with families and businesses. You're jealous because you see people being successful, and you're on the outside looking in.

My time is valuable, and what I can't understand is how someone could have such a dismal existence that they can't find anything better to do on a Saturday then sneaking around picking up signs like a cowardly thief in the night. Especially in Southern California. There is so much to do here. This month you can even go surfing in the morning, and skiing in the afternoon! Where else on the planet can you do that?

Anyway, I know you morons mean well, but your efforts are just misguided. If you have that much spare time on your hands there are hundreds of worthwhile causes out there that would actually help other people rather instead of hurting them. Like feeding the hungry. Housing the homeless. At least I employ the homeless from time to time. To a street person, 50 dollars for a days work actually helps them. He's going to be standing on a corner anyway, so why not wave a sign and get paid for it?

Yes we filthy street spammers actually help our community in ways that you self righteous morons can't possibly comprehend. Perhaps if you bothered to think about what you are doing, you might actually start to see the big picture.

I'm sure this post won't last long here. The truth hurts. And I know this is your sand box, not mine. Freedom of speech doesn't apply to web sites unless you own it.

Good-bye for now, and happy sharking!

Translation: "Unless Causs was effective in stopping my spam, I wouldn't be so moved to post this hand-wringing message."
Best of all for me is that this dunce admits to doing his soiling in Southern California, where I've no doubt sliced up and/or removed hundreds of his illegal signs.

I love the reverse logic of a criminal: "I violate the law, but you'll go to jail." After about 4500 signs removed, I've only had 3 encounters with police officers in about 4 years--and all ended without incident I explained what I was doing.

This other pearl of (between-the-lines) broken logic is also priceless: "I'm a father, so this entitles me to break other laws as compensation for my parental sacrifices." OK: I take out the trash every week, can I rob banks to compensate for doing my civic duty by not throwing empty milk cartons onto my neighbor's lawn?

I am now even more motivated to purge his coroplast from Southern California streets, rights-of way, commercial property, etc.--because this spammer just confirmed it hurts.

Actually, I pick up YOUR litter. It's a rough job to do while I'm out walking by your litter everyday, but I survive. Sometimes, I even have to wait until tomorrow to carry it all to the trash....
Oh yes, and thank you for your contribution to either keeping me in kindling for the fireplace, or the really nice stakes that will hold up my tomatoes this summer!

4. "Finally, a new troll!"
In response to message #0

I haven't had a chance for a little sport around here for a while...
>My God people, get a life! Get a hobby. Get a job!
We have lives, hobbies (keeping our towns clean of your trash), and jobs. Difference is, our jobs don't involve throwing ugly crap around and ruining the view for our fellow citizens.

>Don't you have families? Doesn't your little kid play soccer or baseball on the weekends?
And that has exactly what to do with your contention that it's OK for you to trash our towns?

>I know you morons think you are actually doing something noble and "good for your community," but you're not stopping to apply a little logic to what you are doing.
Geez, I guess we are really stupid after all. Please, please educate us on our shortcomings, O Wise One!

The reason people use signs, is because THEY WORK! Think about it. If it didn't work, nobody would do it.
Hookers advertise by hanging out on the street and lifting their skirts to prospective johns. That's not very attractive or legal, either.

When you try to "hurt" any business in your own community, you only hurt yourself. Do you really think that residents make up all the revenue that cities take in? If business thrives, the community thrives. This is simple economics 101.
And this has exactly what to do with whether businesses should obey the law?

Cities realize this that's why we NEVER get hassled by code enforcement.
Sure you don't.

Those laws were written because the cities got tired of cleaning up "Garage Sale" and "Lost Pet" signs...Doglovvr.
Uh-huh. So you were there when the laws were written?

Did you people all attend UC Berkley together or what? How many of you retards voted for John Kerry?
Oh no, guys, we'd better run and hide! He's discovered our secrets! What a smart guy; we'd better fold up the operation before he finds out that we're also all homosexual cross-dressers! We need to run and hide from this clever guy, or he'll interrupt our next Satanic Black Mass and kitty-cat sacrifice!

>CE doesn't bother us because we know all those guys now.
Care to provide some names, Mr Fat Mouth?

>We've been doing it for 2 decades here in So Cal and they all know we pick up our signs on Sunday night.
And our people pick up your signs on Saturday morning. Pretty efficient, yes?

>You people have nothing to be proud of. All you are doing is trying to hurt honest hard working people with families and businesses.
Boo hoo hoo, I'm so sorry. Poor you, struggling to make ends meet, and there's no way you can do it without making our towns look crappy.

You're jealous because you see people being successful, and you're on the outside looking in.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Yes, you're right; we all wish we could trash other people's towns for fun and profit. But we can't, because we're just not smart enough to "get in on" those wonderful businesses that would make us rich if only we were smart enough to send $49.95 for an "information package."

>My time is valuable,
So why are you spending so much of it lecturing us? Shouldn't you be putting up some signs, or something similarly intellectually taxing?

and what I can't understand is how someone could have such a dismal existence that they can't find anything better to do on a Saturday then sneaking around picking up signs like a cowardly thief in the night.
And you put up your signs in broad daylight, I bet. Very, very few of us "sneak around" at night, or any other time. Anyone who wants to see who is ripping down their signs in my town doesn't have much trouble spotting me.

>Especially in Southern California. There is so much to do here. This month you can even go surfing in the morning, and skiing in the afternoon! Where else on the planet can you do that?
News flash for you, Mr Surfer Dude Capitalist Yuppie Pig: There are people in the world who believe in being part of a community, and doing service for that community. I know that's an alien concept to self-centered, greedy "me me me me me me" fuckheads such as yourself, but it's true.

Anyway, I know you morons mean well, but your efforts are just misguided. If you have that much spare time on your hands there are hundreds of worthwhile causes out there that would actually help other people rather instead of hurting them. Like feeding the hungry. Housing the homeless.
Oh, Gawd, here it comes again, that same tired old condescending lecture: "Why don't you people find something to do that doesn't interfere with my selfish, illegal trashing of your town."

At least I employ the homeless from time to time. To a street person, 50 dollars for a days work actually helps them. He's going to be standing on a corner anyway, so why not wave a sign and get paid for it?
Well, if it isn't Mother Theresa herself, lecturing us on the error of our ways. What a wonderful, munificent person you are!

>Yes we filthy street spammers actually help our community in ways that you self righteous morons can't possibly comprehend. Perhaps if you bothered to think about what you are doing, you might actually start to see the big picture.
Jesus, my cheekbones are starting to hurt because I'm laughing so hard. I'm sorry, I just didn't realize that spreading trash all over town to promote sleazy real-estate "deals" that capitalize on the desperation of people with financial troubles was such a benefit to the community! Thanks for educating me on this.

>I'm sure this post won't last long here. The truth hurts. And I know this is your sand box, not mine. Freedom of speech doesn't apply to web sites unless you own it.
Freedom of Speech! First Amendment! Wave the flag! I know this one was coming; it's a required item in the standard spammer's trolling litany.

Hey, how come you didn't mention 9/11? Most of the other trolls do. You need to brush up your script.

5. "PEMCO IS PROBABLY OUR STREET SPAMMER"
In response to message #0

This spammer is quite possibly Pemco, a Huntington Beach, California, based company who can blanket an area with illegally placed signs--and who really cares not about city ordinances against it.
Every so often they will put their company name and contact information in small type at the bottom of the coroplast, and that is how I traced them (after picking up sign garbage they put on freeway on/off-ramps, sticking into sidewalks, on other people's property, etc.).

Check out this link to see the all-to familiar coroplast blight.

http://www.pemcorp.net/about.html

Notice their website brags "We've been doing it a long time- almost 14 years."--which ties back to the claim in our street spammer's longevity claim in his original posting.

Pemco's website lists this address, plus an 888 toll-free number--maybe we all ought to try the 888 number out once...or twice...or a dozen times to let them know how we feel about illegal street advertising.

Dear Tomato Stakes--your term ("blight defined") says it all. Thanks.

This picture from Pemco's website tells half the story. Their junk is not just put in front of the business who hires this spammer. Their signs are jabbed, tie-wrapped and stuck into rights-of-way, freeway on/offramps, commercial property, fences, etc.

At times of particularly intense Pemco infestation, I have seen signs kicked over and yanked from the ground--obviously by citizens tired of this junk in their communities.

This spammer often puts their junk right back up after it's removed, so it's good to be diligent about removing it fast and furiously.

Pemco's management clearly has no moral fiber whatsoever and is thoroughly lacking in any sense of community.

Blight, yes. Illegal? Well, those signs appear to be out of the ROW,
but the balloons do violate City of Austin statutes.

Definately blight, along with ugly, annoying and ridiculous. I can't image how signs like these or even those large blow-up gorillas help business. Like I'm going to buy a car at some place that looks more like a circus than somewhere to spend thousands of dollars. I just paid 22 grand for a minivan and they didn't have cheap signs or blowup animals. Just cheesy salesmen.

Gorilla example about halfway through the page, pretty funny stuff here

I want to take signs down but I am afraid to get caught stealing them. I have knocked them down but they are put up again in hours. How do I avoid getting arrested stealing the spammers signs if I get caught by them and they call the police. After all it is somebodys property? But it is fun watching a sign get knocked down then watching them fix it, then wait till they drive away and knock it over again....

I like to think of it as a neighborhood clean up committee of one. These signs are on public property, are usually left until they're picked up anyway. So, if you're picking up trash, how can you be arrested? It's not like these signs salvage value like an abandoned car on the side of the road.

I've better things to do than watch people pick up knocked over signs. Disable the sign or take it with you and dispose of it properly.

BWAAaaaaHAHAHahahahaaaaa! ...Funny. There is absolutely NO problem taking down any sign, especially here in Georgia. They are defined as little, and can be removed at will. They are considered abandoned property everywhere, and are able to be removed at will. They are also ILLEGAL, so no problem there either. More importantly, WHY AREN'T YOU ACCOSTED BY THE VERY SAME PEOPLE WHEN PUTTING THESE ILLEGAL SIGNS UP IN THE FIRST PLACE?

See the problem is the spammer comes and picks his signs up each sunday and does not abandon them. The store uses the same signs and has their contact infoon the signs. I have called the store and told them about their signs and they threatened to have me arrested because they put out the signs and monitor them the whole weekend never leaving them to go to waste (as he put it). I took the advice and dialed *67 before i called but cant the police trace the call? Are there any lawyers in causs that can offer me advise on the laws? Ugggg this is a hassle.

I'm not sure I understand the situation exactly but it sounds like the spammer is clearly identified on the signs. If he places them in illegal locations and then picks them up and does this on multiple weekends, I suggest the best option is to get the authorities involved. Even if the authorities are not very responsive, you may be able to encourage, cajole, or embarras them into acting against this specific spammer. Take pictures, call the newspaper and TV stations to force some action. Unfortunately, the spammer may get some free publicity but it should put a stop the spamming.

Involving Code Enforcement with repeated violations has worked very well in Denver. Especially in the cases of furniture liquidator's signs. Most of these are neon colored and say at the bottom "signs will be removed sunday night". Right - so they don't get caught by CE on Monday morning.
