"Robert Lauderdale arrested again by Scott A. Small and his p"
January 28, 2004
This is a mailing to all names in my e-mail address book. Please let me know if you want to be removed from this list, or if you are receiving more than one e-mail. Let me know of names that may be added.
Many of you may know about my long time hobby of removing illegal signs and perhaps you will recall 3 years ago I was arrested by Scott A. Small and his partners, who put up real estate directional signs. They took me to court in Fairfax County and Arlington County, VA. I paid $5,000 in restitution to them with no firm case law related to ownership of illegal signs established.
Since then I have become an Adopt-a-Highway member of 6.8 miles in Arlington, VA. On the morning of January 10, 2004 Scott A. Small and his partners charged me with stealing 3 (three) of their signs all on Virginia Department of Highway property.
Again, I have hired an attorney, begun the drafting of Press Releases and contacting of parties that are favorable to stopping the blight of illegal signs. The court date is February 12, 2004 in Arlington, VA, but my attorney wants to file for a postponement. Our object is to establish some firm case law related to illegal signs and their removal.
Honestly, I could use a little help. First I will get this mailing list cleaned up, then I will contact the press: "Arlington Environmental Activist Arrested for Removing Litter as an Adopt-a-Highway Permit Holder". Any suggestions will be accepted and if you know of other cases like this let me know.
There will be more on this later.
