Junk Removal

The owner of this phone number has been posting laminated paper signs on stop signs in Chantilly and Fairfax for a while now.

The phone is unlisted and they refuse to give their address to me. I want to charge this company several times over but need help identifying them.

Does anyone know who they are or would be willing to get the company to show up where a license plate can be obtained?

Thanks... LEO

As LEO, you have the tools to peirce unlisted numbers' mysteries. Also, it sounds like they are not licensed in your state, and I'd get the ICC involved.

.

Oh, there's a hint of cool in the air, and Winter is coming! I've got to gather more firewood... And Sign stakes make great fire starters!

Ack! Bandit Signs are LITTER!

I already had the dispatch center check and they cannot get anything on the phone number.

I have also checked the police database files available that includes the phone number ever being used on a police report but nothing found!! (

The only step I have left is to draft up a subpoena for the phone ompany and get a judge to sign it. This seems a bit much for a civil fine.

I have not given up on them yet. They have dropped their price from $55 to $30 so business is not that good. Maybe they will go out of business soon.

Have you tried calling the number and making an appointment? If you are really LEO you can bust them when they show up and get all the info you need.

Actually.. they do not need to talk to me at all. Unless I catch them putting up a sign they can say "see ya!" and leave.

I believe the business is ran out of an apartment so it may or may not be the owner. I can only charge the owner of the apartment for the signs and not an employee.

If anyone else knows of a way or has the ability to tap into a database to get info on the number that would be helpful.

Otherwise... I will have my wife call for a fake job at a vacant address or I go see the judge.

There is a national number database with access restricted to law enforcement. I forgot the name of the organization. However, even that probably won't help much for cell phone and voicemail numbers. For those, it probably only gives the carrier responsible for the number.

Your city attorney (or district attorney) would be the who could advise on what kind of sting would hold up in court. It heavily depends on local ordinances and state laws. Stings have worked for some cases in Texas.

Finding someone hanging the signs would be ideal but is tought to do. Maybe you can find who is printing the signs. That might lead to to is hanging them or paying for them.

Yep - The City of Dallas (TX) did it seveal years back with a subpoena.
The judge issued the order and mandated that Southwestern Bell Telephone (SWBT) release the rightful owner's name.

Reason - the telephone number was/is being used to solicit business that is clearly against the law - via the telephone contact posted on illegal signs in public ROW's.

It can be done, but it takes the full cooperation of the city or municipal attorney and city or county judge, to make it work.

Need anymore info, send me a PM.
