Just yanked one near the gas station on westbound University Parkway (U-265) at Sandhill Road.
Might have been hard to read, used a font not commonly seen in street spam, a thin serifed font, probably a Roman variant.
The spam was for utahbrides.com, a group that has a TV program on a regular basis as well. I forget which station, but it's actually well-known.
Tossed that, along with an ad for an event featuring Kalai, a guitarist who had an album in 2002, that was right by the utahbrides.com spam. Blue on white coroplast, featured the sponsoring venue's URL, scera.org as well.
Got several other paper Kalai posters at the same intersection.
But be especially on the watch for utahbrides.com spam in Utah County and maybe Salt Lake County. The Utah County event is September 14-15 at Thanksgiving Point, so it's possible they will spam in both counties as it gets closer.

We are aware and concerned about advertising that was posted illegally for the Thanksgiving Point Wedding Expo at Thanksgiving Point. The information said that UtahBrides.com was responsible for posting those signs on property where such signs are prohibited. UtahBrides.com is a sponsor of the Wedding Expo but was not aware that Thanksgiving Point representatives posted signs on private property or county property, nor were we consulted about the signs. When we heard that this had happened, we immediately contacted Thanksgiving Point and were told that any signs posted in restricted areas would be immediately removed.
Wherever our logo or name is used, it is important that those using our name have permission to do so and follow all guidlines, and the law.

Thank you, Robin for making it clear that illegally posting signs will not be tolerated. Getting this message to those who actually post the signs is what it takes to bring this practice to a halt. Let's hope it has that effect.
We have some active CAUSS participants in Utah. They will have a better sense of what is actually happening on the ground.

Robin, UtahBrides signs have popped up every year for the last several years in the Salt Lake Valley. In recent weeks, they have appeared again illegally in public right-of-ways, although in lesser abundance than in previous years. I have seen them on 500 South, 700 East and several other locations. To reaffirm, they are not signs owned or posted by UtahBrides.com. Nor did we have any knowledge of the signs. I appreciate knowing that signs have been posted promoting an event where our logo has been present. One of the challenges we sometimes run into is people using our name and logo to promote their event. Not only is it illegal to post those signs, but it is also illegal to use our logo without permission. When signs are placed illegally people should contact the venue or company that is promoting an event, in this case Thanksgiving Point. Because it says "sponsored by" does not mean we are supporting or have knowledge of the signs. Citizens Against Ugly Street Spam would be wise to first contact people or businesses who post the signs, or alledgedly post the signs, before posting information that may not be accurate, and in this case is completely inaccurate. It does not serve your worthy cause and efforts to accuse businesses that were in the dark or had nothing to do with the signs.

Thanks for the response Robin Saville.
<< I appreciate knowing that signs have been posted promoting an event where our logo has been present. >>
Your welcome.
<<One of the challenges we sometimes run into is people using our name and logo to promote their event.>>
If you rent space from these “people” annually, this becomes an acknowledged business arrangement. This is not some random party infringing on your good name. You do regular business with these “people”. You are Not a victim in this situation.
<<When signs are placed illegally people should contact the venue or company that is promoting an event, in this case Thanksgiving Point.>>
Have you contacted Thanksgiving Point?
<< Because it says "sponsored by" does not mean we are supporting or have knowledge of the signs. >>
What will happen differently this November 2008?
<<Citizens Against Ugly Street Spam would be wise to first contact people or businesses who post the signs, or allegedly post the signs,>>
That would be you Robin. You allegedly posted signs. CAUSS is first contacting you because UtahBrides.com’s name is on the signs.
<<before posting information that may not be accurate, and in this case is completely inaccurate.>>
These accusations are not “completely inaccurate”. They have merit. Your company’s name is on the sign.
This whole matter can be dropped if Utah Brides and Thanksgiving Point will agree to abide by the law. Are the signs going to happen again in 2008?
Kind thanks in return,
Spam Shark
PS. I sent Email to UtahBrides notifying Robin about this post.
I sent Email to Thanksgiving Point notifying John Jorgensen about this post.
