"Katy/Ft Bend County"

I was out and about yesterday and saw some new signs in the neutral ground/median strip around some subdivisions still undergoing development. There were 2 at the corner of Fry Rd and Peek Rd (Grand Lakes) and at least a couple more further out Fry Rd west of the Grand Parkway (Seven Meadows/Avalon??). These are big, fancy signs, maybe 4' wide by 8 or 10' tall with directions to multiple destinations. They are not like the cheap plywood builder signs that are more common.

I can't imagine these are 'legal', but unlike Harris County (precinct 3) I haven't had any luck getting any action from Ft Bend county.

Anyone have a good Ft Bend County contact that has done some good in getting these big signs removed?

thanks,

'Just keep pullin' 'em up'

Fort Bend County Road and Bridge is responsible for removal of signs illegally placed in the right of way. I've gotten them to remove about 10 signs in the past several months, most at one intersection in the north part of the county. However, if the sign isn't in the right of way, the county won't or can't do anything about it. In any case, it's worth a phone call to report the signs and find out.

The number to call is 281.342.4513. Usually the person answering the phone is knowledgeable but you might also ask for the Road and Bridge Commissioner, Marc Grant, at the same number.
