I was out surveying the Katy area ahead of Hurricane Rita when I came across a man cleaning out a drainage ditch with his backhoe at the corner of Greenbusch and Katy Gaston Roads in Fort Bend County. I was interested in this corner since it had 5 board signs in the right of way. The county had been promising to remove them for nearly 6 weeks.
I asked the man if he worked for the county and he said, “No. I’m just trying to clean this drainage so my house won’t flood. I’ve been after the county to clean this out, and they never have so now I’ll do it.”
I said, "I know what you mean. I’ve been trying to get the county to get rid of those signs over there for several weeks.” The man looked over at the signs and then back at me and gave a thumbs up.
About an hour later I passed back by the corner again and just howled when I saw that all the signs and 4x4 posts were broken and smashed.
Well, Thanks, Stranger, whoever you are, and SHAME ON YOU FORT BEND COUNTY.

I have seen several post and panel signs (4'x8' plywoood on 4x4 posts) that had their plywood removed. I'm sure that the plywood was removed for boarding up windows purpose. Great recycling!
