"CAUSS in Dallas"

Well, you folks in Dallas must be making an impact because the perpetrators have really been hitting Garland in the last few months/year. I have recently become fed up with the signs and started to look into how to get a handle on them. This is how I found this website. I have solicited the help of some others and over the last week we have gathered about 100 signs. My area of Garland is now clean. The hardest areas to keep clean however are at the entrance and exit ramps of 635. Is there anyone here that takes care of this border between Dallas and Garland? It seems an impossible job for one person.

That area of 635 that you refer is and has always been a nightmare.
As you well know, trying to remove signs anytime of day in those areas is taking your life in you hands.
About the only time its even half way safe is between 2AM and 4AM, even that can be a trying time.

I know there are sharks travling those areas. I take one of my vehicles out to Garland Rd and Kingsley area to the dealers for service. I see the effects each time I go that way.

Just keep after it; if you think it's bad now you should have seen it five years ago. It's a never ending job.

Are either of these two options feasible?

1. Asking TXDOT or local sheriff for support in diverting traffic, maybe let them pick the time.
2. Use paintball guns to disable the signs. Ugly I know...

No sign is worth injury (other than the occasional cut & scrape). If traffic gets blocked to remove signs, that may send a message. "Traffic delay brought to you by 1-800-WE-BUY-HOUSES"

Can someone take a picture of the area/signs to see how bad it is?

The sheriff's dept is out of the question in Dallas County. They have more trouble (polictics) than they can say grace over. Paintball guns? not hardly. Get caught using one of those in town and you're in some deep stuff, up to your ears.

First of all, TxDOT does a darn good job of keeping the signs out of the 635 ROW, that's not where the problem lies. It's the service roads, which are in the jurisdicton of either Dallas or Garland.

It is not in the scope of CAUSS to block traffic, even for a few seconds. Besides, it's against state law to impede the flow of traffic. The only exception is an injury type accident, or some type of ligitimate construction.

It's not that bad anymore. On occasions, Yes, It gets hit hard.
The Northern and Northeastern parts of LBJ usually get cleaned by sharks or CE at least once a week. It's that area of LBJ on the far southside of Dallas that's a real problem.

Both Dallas and Garland do not have the same proactive stands as the other municipalities in the surrounding areas. Also, both of the cities have more to deal with that command much higher priorities and the signs take a back seat.

As stated, yes those areas continue to give us problems. But, we at CAUSS have managed to get a handle on the area and it's not near as bad as it was five years ago. The spammers know we are right behind them, where ever they hit.

Thanks for the information, I grew up out in the country, pee off the back porch, shooting guns out the back door.... that kinda thing so I'm a bit of a country bumpkin at times.

Glad to know you're getting after the folks up there in the Big D, we're slowly making progress down here, but I did see about 20 sharked signs at an intersection this morning, made me think of crepe myrtles that have just been scalped.

Here in the semi-rural area I have often thought a paint ball gun would be the way to go. The thing is that all the paint balls have washable paint and it goes away with the first rain. Anyone heard of a "non-washable" paint ball? Paint balloons? Some times the signs are just out of reach and with a paint ball gun you could do it. You can just make a shark stick so long!
