The City of Dallas Churchill Recreation Center at Hillcrest and Churchill Way has about 45 illegal elections signs between the curb and the sidewalk. The center is an early voting site. The early voting site at Fretz Park has no election signs other than the official voting location and distance markers.
I'll report them tomorrow to city code enforcement and insist on immediate action.

I spoke to Ron Robinson in Dallas Code Compliance and he said he would have his teams check out the voting location and remove signs.
I went to Churchill Rec Center today to vote and there was a sign placed by the rec center staff saying that signs could only be posted in a designated area on the rec center grounds. I spoke with the on-site and the district manager and apparently the Parks and recreation department established a policy permitting signs in a designated area. I have followed up with Parks and Recreation central office and with code compliance. Sems to be lack of communication between departments.

Talked to Patricia Benefeel (sp?) at Dallas Parks and Recreation HQ. She worked with Bruce Sherbet in the Dallas County Elections office to develop the policy that allows election signs on city property. It is Benefeel's understanding that TX state laws does not allow city to prohibit signs on city property.
I am pursuing with Bruce Sherbet. He is a good guy. I'll post results.
