Gabbert's seems to having a weekend sale, they've plastered north Dallas and Carrollton with what must be hundreds of large coroplast signs on stakes. Text at the bottom of the signs says that they'll be picked up Sunday afternoon, but a few dozen of them didn't make it past Saturday morning. If anyone feels like harvesting signs this weekend, I don't think there'll be any shortage of signs.

Are these signs in the Midway area in Farmers Branch? We had an inspector work this weekend and I hope he was able to remove those that may have been in Farmers Branch. Thanks.

I didn't get that far south, so I don't know -- but they were all over Midway from Trinity Mills north, so unless they intentionally avoided Farmers Branch, I'm guessing that they had some signs in your jurisdiction.

Perhaps they learned from a previous time when I, fortunately, did weekend work very early and removed 78 of their signs immediately after they were planted in all the wrong places. I will check with the inspector that worked on Saturday. Thanks and never give up.

On Saturday, the weekend inspector removed 8 Gabberts signs. He also went to the store, told them that the signs were not allowed, and the store had one of their employees go out and remove all of the signs that they had put out. Never give up.

Is a weekend inspector a full-time inspector just covering a weekend or is it actually a part-time job? I'm wondering if Harris Co. would consider hiring some weekend inspectors for this type of work down here.

Our weekend inspector is a full time code enforcement officer. We have four code enforcement officers that take turns working on the weekends, mainly to pull illegally placed signs (including garage sale signs). I am not sure, but I believe some cities are having inspectors do a work week which includes Saturdays.

Though this information may not still be true, the Dallas PAT team works Wednesday through Sunday till 7 PM. The PAT team is the Premises Abatement Team which handles signs, garage sales, street vendors, off-street parking (e.g., vehicles on blocks), and a few other ordinances. They seem to be as ineffective as ever.

I live near Gabbert's. Today I got an oversized post card announcing their "closing forever" sale. It is marked "SNEAK PREVIEW" and "For Your Eyes Only" and also "4 Days" but it does not give the dates. "Please present this post card for admittance." I guess the people who saw the 100's of illegal signs that have been posted for 10 days are all waiting in the parking lot so that I can hurry in before them to get the best selection.
