Target Super Stores has done it again, only this time it's Lewisville. Please recall that Target is a division of Dayton/Hudson Corp. based in Minneapolis, MN.
After all the bad press we gave them in the summer of '00, they scattered signs all over the service roads of I35 and FM3040 out of Vista Ridge mall west with their high profile signs.
The signs were the same as those posted along the Dallas North tollway summer before last leading into Plano.
I called Bobby Shooter at Lewisville CE and he called me back within five minutes. He indicated that Target would be contacted and given a choice of removing the signs or face citations and/or court appearance.
Anyone spotting these sigtns, please call Lewisville CE at 972-219-3480 or email bobby at <shooter972_476@msn.com> and voice a concern.
The telephone number for the executive secretary for the Target Regional Director is "Pam" at 972-578-2928 and the email address for Target in Mpls is <bryan.berg@target.com>
Let everyone call or email these folks and voice a concern of public litter in addition to blatant code voilations.

Flower Mound, Highland Village, and Lewisville...consider this your wake-up call. Another "Super Target" is slated to open a year from now, on the SW corner of FM2499 & FM407 in Flower Mound. How about taking a proactive stance on these folks, letting them know that they won't get the luxury of a warning, as they are getting today from Lewisville. Since the prior warning in Dallas has obviously fallen on deaf ears, just let them know that each sign will cost them "the max" every day they're up. -- Remora Remora@Resourceful.com

Target has been opening stores in New England over the last year or so (they'd never been here before), and they've never used spam signs to announce new stores.
But - since they're doing so in Texas, do you think it rates a "warning shot across the bows" from me that they shouldn't even THINK of doing that in Connecticut?

The signs they did in Dallas in June of 2000 weren't for announcing the store --- they were for recruiting new employees for the new store. I haven't seen the new batch of signs in Lewisville. GW, are they the same as the Dallas signs (looking for employees) or are they hyping the store itself this time? -- Remora Remora@Resourceful.com

SSDD, if they're still there. Bobby Shooter indicated that he was calling Target as soon as he hung from me. He really acted fast on this one. I explained the whole story in detail about the Plano store.
I'll take another look tomorrow and shoot some digitals for the record, if they're still there.
I normally carry my camera with me, but as luck would have it, I was in the Sunday car.
That area around Vista Ridge is a real bugger bear on Friday afternoon and Saturday's due to the traffic flows.
