"In Concert Planet Hollywood"
Mon Nov-28-11 10:28 AM by pops

This Turkey day weekend I feasted on some fresh illegal signage. Its only about once a year I get to feast like this, and it was better than Turkey.

First, I was headed to the club when I spotted one single orange poster size signage on the NW corner of Eastern/Russell. I didn't think much of it at the time, and didn't see anymore in the area. Then when I came back through, a few hours later, there was about a dozen more, all over the same intersection. Signage was in the center median, on the NW corner, the SE corner. Earlier, I remember I checked for any pedestrians placing any big, ugly, orange poster size signage up, but I didn't see anyone.

Well next, a Sharkfest began. I moved down the street, first north then south. There, again, about a dozen more, all over the poles and in the median, not there earlier, quickly devoured.

I did this for the next few hours, eating up more and more, on whatever pole or fence he thought his signage was safe. But then soon Sharkfest was over, darkness gave way to light.

It was a good, a good Turkey day or day for Sharkin.

Airport connector/Russell Rd. 12 signage
Russell/Eastern 12 signage
Eastern/Sunset 12 signage
Sunset/Post office exit 2 signage on airport fence
Sunset/Gilispie 4 signage
Gilespie/215 exit 12 signage
Mandalay Bay Mcdonalds 1 signage.

Nice job Pops. I saw quite a few of these signs on Friday around UNLV and on Flamingo between strip and Sandhill. I wasn't able to get any due to an appointment.

Not sure if you noticed any of the large A-frame LUMINATIONS signs? These are the "We Install Christmas Lights" guys, they put the large (9ft X 15ft) A-frame signs up on Friday night and remove them on Sunday night

Making a positive difference!

Hi Clean Sweep

Saw some more Friday?

I got these Thursday morning 3:00AM right after they went up. Stayed out till about 8:00AM looking for more around the strip, and at Flamingo, but didn't see any more.

I should of known they would hit again the next day. The concert was for the following day, Saturday. In the past, I noticed these guys getting the poster out just before the concert. I think they are begining to relize they won't stay up long.

If you saw more going down Flamingo to Sandhill, Sandhill is an area that still gets hit with the same spam I see on the westside. This area on the east is residential, and one of the last Spamkie hideouts.

Its good info to track these guys. Will have to keep watch for the next concert and be ready to strike again when they come out.

Sunset/Eastern Nov.24 eastside location up a couple hours
Trop/Jones Tuesday Nov 22 westside location
Trop/Jones SW corner animal hospital

When you see signs and they advertise an event at a hotel, call the hotel and speak with the General Manager. Explain to him that these signs are illegal, not to mention they make our city look bad, and if the signs are not removed within four hours, they can expect to receive bad publicity.

If it happens to be on a weekend or after hours, contact the hotel manager or head of Security, trust me, they know how to contact the General Manager. You may not see instant results, although, rest assured that the person at the hotel responsible for events will get an ear full and will be more careful to insert language in their contract about using the Hotel's name in its illegal advertising.

A few years ago, I put tremendous pressure on Sunset Station when they leased parking lot space to the 1-800-SPA-SALE guy who trashed our streets week after week. Well, because of the bad publicity, thanks to Sharks from around the country who called the General Manager to voice their concern, Station Casinos no longer leases their parking lots to outside vendors, so I'm told.

Believe it or not, most of the hotels do care about our community.

Making a positive difference!

Thats a good idea. I'll have to call Planet Hollywood about the signs in the morning. Now there was a phone number on the illegal signage, but that I'm sure its the wrong person to call. Eh?

I remember theose Spa Ads. Good call.

I saw the number on the poster, I would bet it's the number to buy tickets.

Found more of the posters along Russell, eastbound to Bd. Hwy. from Eastern, then north on Bd. Hwy to Missouri.

I believe this Spamkie works at the Walmart on Eastern at Russell then trashes this area about 3:00AM in the morning before or after work.

The posters are the same as the Planet Hollywood type, but are for the next concert at the Thomas Mack Center, Dec 30th. A good three weeks away. Went up Sunday night, Monday early in the morning, Dec4-5.

All Removed

I got a few of these, I've only seen about a half dozen of these signs in various areas. They may just be testing the waters.

I'll be calling UNLV President to voice my concerns and ask why UNLV would lease space to vendors who damage our city.

Making a positive difference!

Got some more tonight. One S.B. Bd. Hwy. before Flamingo, then one at Sandhill/Flamingo, NW corner.

Further down Sandhill, at Viking I spotted some more signage, but it was the We Buy Houses kind. This signage, two, were also pounded into the ground at the corner of Flamingo and Bd. Hwy., six more were here at Flamingo next to the "In Concert" sign. The Spamkie operating in this area, lives in this area, around Viking/Sandhill. All these locations are exits from this corner.

More signage "In Concert Thomas and Mack Dec. 30th", was also spotted and removed along Nellis, southbound from Sahara to Vegas Valley.

Think your right, they get mad when they see thier signage go down so quick. So I guess the word goes out to hit all areas. Well, will just keep removing these too!

Hey Pops and Clean Sweep,

This is all good stuff.

Can you guys drag some of this into the "general forum"? Start posting there? It's dull there and needs your motivation.

There are not many posts there some reason, so please bring some of your activity over there.

People surfing this site don't see the activity in Vegas or other states and cities because they don't have time to surf every state as this site is set up for. You guys are active, so please share the wealth.

It motivates me to pull signs, little as they are here now. (Mid-cities-Fort worth) Dallas is still polluted.

Signs go away quickly all over this area due to the thanks of many unknown "super sharks" --- those unknown.

Please start one of the threads in the general section. It shows CAUSS in "action".

Thanks,

Spamshark
