"State of the Street Address"

Since this is the time we hear all the State of the.... Address, I thought I'd give one for The Streets of Las Vegas

Uh umnmm

Sharks are continuing to keep the streets clean and the Spammers have almost disappeared.Applause!

Code is fining old violators, and new violators don't last long. Applause!

But folks clean streets always will need cleanning as long as spammers continue to populate. But working with Code and reporting new threats will keep the streets clean of their scurge. Standing ovations!!!

Thank you Thank you Thank you very much.

Pops, you would make a perfect politician!

I continue to see the results of multiple spammers, the carpet cleaners are the worst. I shark their signs and they come back and rip their sharked sign down, leaving them lay on the ground to blow in the wind. I'm now saddened to see their signs now as trash on the streets.

Making a positive difference!

Update on the trash.

I watched a kid pulled down the $8.00 Carpet spam, and walk away after he put up the 8369 carpet spam. I spun around and got his photo.

Not only does he violate the code, but now he is littering. I tried his tactic pulling down his signs and leaving up his competitions.

I hoped I would get them into a war but it might be the reason for the litter fallout. Spamkies!!

Guys,
In those 2 individual posts you pointed out the real problem. If we simply pick-up the signs then the CE's never see them or do their jobs of trying to work with the spammers to get them to stop. But if we shark them in some way then the folks who originally put them up will come back and they still don't care so they just throw one down and put the new one up. The CE's in Dallas have tried several times to encourage me to just pull the signs, again, and again, and again.
It is a real mess.
Personally, I have gone to cutting the signs in half (to completely disable the message) and then report it so the CE's can do their job. If it is a sign on a utility pole, or sign pole, I have gone to cutting off the sign and leaving just the phone number so that the CE's can still do their job. I then still call and report the sign.
I take the ugly 2 part sign waving in the wind as a sign to the spammers and I suffer with the sight of it until it gets removed.
Anyone else have other ideas?
The funny thing is, a sign can be in place for several days but after I cut it, it is typically gone by the next day. That has happened all over town. Very odd.
Betty.

I stopped completely removing spamm and started sharking the last four digits of the phone number, I still see many of the signs in place that I sharked three months ago.

I sharked a couple dozen carpet cleaning signs 10 days ago on a very bust street (Eastern) which is traveled by CE often and the signs are still there. Many of these signs are litteraly 30feet apart.

Been noticing some sharked signs on Jones near Russell. The $8.00 carpet signs.

Noticed more where I don't think you hunt. Psychic along Rainbow at Warmsprings, Badura.

Its not CE, but another Shark who I met and hunts on the westside I'm guessing. Need his feedback so we could elimate the guessing.

I sharked two weekends in a row and noticed some new Psychic signs were partly removed sometime during the week, pink in color.

These, the pink ones, just started to pop up two weeks ago, around Rainbow and Durango between Warm Springs Tropicana. Check Psychic Nevada Post Feb 13.

Going to go out Monday around noon, try to get them first. Out.

Yep, that’s me!

I have been hitting this area lately, not sure if I sharked these signs as I don't keep track other that memory.

Great day to shark, traffic is light due to Presidents day.

Nate.

Making a positive difference!

A new State of the Street Adress is here for 2012

If you drive around on the westside of Las Vegas you will continue to see the Spamkies hard at work. The Eastside gets the same signage but in much smaller dosage and less frequent.

The Spamkies this year began to plaster there new signage on electric boxes and metal light poles starting mainly on the westside. These spamkies are the same ones who have been using the stop signs, fences, and utility poles in the past. They discovered a new way of attaching signage that is almost impossible to remove without a whole lot of time and effort. So now the trend is reversed, the Sharks now have to spend more time to remove than it would take for the Spamkies to create a sign and install. In the past, a sign took longer to create and install than to remove.

Comming soon to a city near you, are Spamkies ready to discover large metal utility boxes along the sides of the roads ripe for illegal signage. They will soon prolificate without proactcive enforcement. Here the signage problem went away on poles with proactive enforcement, but onece again the same 1/2 off A/C sign, and the same carpet cleaning signs have found a new way of getting away with the Code violations year after year.

Its up to our local Code Enforcement here in Las Vegas to take a copy of the number from the sign, Google it into the computer, and go after these indviduals. Most indications suggest they are still in code violation, like they have been in the past. Since 2008 the same Carpet cleaning violator has made it on to this forum, again and again. And 1/2 off is on post "Bad Things Happening in the Valley" with everything posted here coming true. Also "new carpet spam xxx-8369 11x18 paper, with photos at reply 23.

Again, here are the phone numbers from the signage for 1/2 off A/C, and Carpet Cleaning, currently plastering their signage all over metal utility boxes on the westside of town, Clark County jurisdiction!

1/2 off A/C 475-0001
Carpet Cleaning 366-4440 Zoom Carpet, and Carpetcare911.
Sign shop signage 220-5609

This state of the street address is late due to the enormous amount of time it takes to remove one on these violators signs.

Some Sharks paint over the phone number on the signs that are glued; I either cut out the last four digits of the phone number or tape over them with metal tape.

Eastern was hit hard last week, but I hit back even harder. After disabling multiple “WE Buy Cars” signs, the spammer came back the next day to repost, this happened three times. I disabled his signs within 24 hours of posting, Spammer finally gave up.

Making a positive difference!

Thats greaat news. Eastern as you know gets lots of traffic.
I didn't relize he hits that often . Don't see anything north of Warmsprings

I made it over to Windmill and removed there once, this intersection seems to be where one spamkie likes to start or finish.

.
Last month I spotted, and removed some signage at Sundridge, Horizon Ridge when I did some visitng to the exclusive neighborhoods of Anthem. These same signs were popping up in the neighborhoods around Sunset/Sandhill, Sunset/Stephanie, way further East and north.

Last four I think were -5373 "cleaning service" on white paper 11x8.
