CAUSS has received two emails from a person posing as a reporter for a TV station in Las Vegas. Both appear to be baited emails. The last was a fear factor type email trying again to get us to take the bait.
The IP addresses that were used doesn’t resolve to the IP’s for the TV station.
We pulled up the website for the TV station in question and no one by the name on the email appeared as an employee of the station.
On the surface, this sure appears to be a spammer wanting or trying to ID any of the Las Vegas area sharks.
Please use extreme caution if you happen to get a private message from anyone from the Las Vegas (NV) area wanting to talk. We also recommend that you not talk with the media unless you have serious experience in dealing with those folks. We also suggest that you use all due discretion should some one from the Las Vegas area register as “Newbie” and want others from that area to contact them.

Greatwhite,
I was told by a friend that Channel 13 (KTNV) did a segment on Spam last Tuesday 5/16/06 on the 11:00 pm news. I missed the report however I did call the news station (702-876-1313) to verify and they did confirm that a report on "Street Spam" aired. I was unable to locate anything on there website (www.ktnv.com).

I saw the channel 13 news segment the other night. Besides showing an UGLY LITTER sign and mentioning CAUSS, they also interviewed a Henderson Code Enforcement officer and a man who owns a mobile advertising sign. The owner of the sign had permission to park his sign on private property from the land owner. Code Enforcement says anything left over 2 hours without a premit is considered abandoned and subject to be removed.
