The furniture store that has been going out of business for the last 6 months hit Eastern and surrounding streets last night. Must have placed 60+ signs.
I called the store and the person on the phone told me to get use to it, he plans on going out of business for the next three years.
Crazy thing is they don't place the signs anywhere within 3 blocks of there store. I guess they don't want to trash up their storefront location.

Saw some on Trop/Industrial for a store it looks like on 7600 blk. of Industrial. Trop is 2 miles away 4900 blk. There easy striking. Ill have to help him take three years to go out of business CAUSS nobody will see his signs. He started putting them out around 4:30PM Friday.

I guess it is state law that governs "going out of business" sales. The firm must register the sale and must really be going out of business.
The retail furniture business seems to have some unusual business practices. While there are many firms that have been in business for decades, there is also a class of retailers who seem to base their success on having intentional going out of business sales. Maybe they get great deals on short term space rental and create new business entities they plan to liquidate in 6 months.
As others have pointed out. there are even liquidation companies that specialize in furniture sales. They have teams that go from city to city and handle all the signs, advertisement, and other promotion. The floor salespeople seem to be local and switch employers when the sale ends.
Why the furniture business has far more "going out of business" sales than other lines of retail business is a mystery to me.

The address of the store is on the sign. This is an off-site sign on a pole that CE may easily remedy, if they had a complaint. Around here, I would leave the sign alone, and only file a complaint. Is this the same place that has the twirlers? I would let CE get warmed up with the off-site signs, before filing a complaint about twirlers.

After investigating it appears there are three of these furniture stores around town and all three are having the same going out of business sale. With the signs and sign twirlers that they have in front of there stores, it appears to be a professional promotional outfit.
I don’t wish bad on anybody, although, I wish they would just close their doors once and for all.

The last post is a picture of a Liberty Tax service? Some Liberty stores here spam the local streets around tax time.
Back to the subject of our furniture stores and their going out of business, I'll talk to our C.E. with this info. Thanks. Sounds like they are always going to be around, better get the authority involved.
Saw some more of the same for another store on the west side, along Durango/Buffalo.
