"Two for -possibly-three for first sharking."

Yesterday afternoon, I slashed and threw away a "Got Junk?" and a "We buy houses" signs. I would have tossed in a concrete service's one, as well, but it was REALLY pushed in there and was technically on private property. :/

It's also difficult to get those metal posts up when they're frozen to the ground. Any suggestions?

I really go out of my way to get the ladder stakes as they are a hazard for people and mowers later. Can you clip them off at the snow line with a stout wire cutter?

.

Oh, there's a hint of cool in the air, and Winter is coming! I've got to gather more firewood... And Sign stakes make great fire starters!

Ack! Bandit Signs are LITTER!

You mean the wire ladder stakes? If you can't pull them out, bend over the top wires that stick up so they will not be a hazard. That will also make it nearly impossible for spammers to place another illegal sign on them.

Thanks. Next time I'm out, I'll try those ideas.

I pulled it out today, since it's finally warm enough to do so. No additional signs around here so far.

Managed to get the second "We Buy Houses" sign (someone else threw it in the ROW), a "house for auction", a handyman service of some sort, and one for the "Vote Yes For Kids". November has come & gone, dear neighbor. Would've chomped another one, but that block's sidewalk was too slippery.

Oh, AND bent all the ladder stakes.

Chomp, chomp, chomp...

Have noticed quite a few other Northsiders getting in on the act.

All I did yesterday was remove some pocket spam in both Downtown and Uptown - mostly from the free newspaper boxes.

Yesterday, went out and sharked near Brookdale. Finally cleaned up a pole on 53rd & Humboldt. Should've brought a hammer and something to remove the nails with, though. :/

Now just need to call CE to get those Berting "We Buy Houses" fliers from 53rd. They MUST print them up all the time, The storm we had ruined the actual cardboard signs. I figure I pulled about 15 - 20 signs.

Does XCel have a number to call about signs?

Chomp, chomp, chomp...

Walked eastward on 49th to Mississippi Park. Most of the trash on a stick seems to be in the Lind-Bohannon neighborhood.

The most irksome was someone stapled garage sale signs on trees. Grrr... Otherwise, it was more picking up fallen signs and cleaning up light poles than "traditional" sharking.

Not much today around Brookdale, just a couple of mowing/yard service signs and a rusted H post.

Only things to shark around here were an old auction sign, a garage sale sign, and a deflated balloon taped to a bus stop post.

OK, the coroplast "This project was done by your Neighborhood Association" signs are bothering me, as well. Wish I had camera to show what I'm referring to, It isn't those large wooden ones that say where you ARE.

Fortunately, all I saw today were a few old garage sale signs, so it was more removing nails and packing tape. :|

Guess I'm going to have to make one of those sharky sticks. There's one of those house buying signs on my block's light pole.

After cutting it down, call them and tell them that all signs will be documented and removed.

Making a difference and keeping it clean
