First off, looks like no one has posted in Massachusetts since 2008!
This is my first post but I have removed signs a few times.
I thought I was alone until I found this site. And people who remove signs are "sharks"....cool. It's funny, because I do some stencil art on wood and one of my first stencils was a shark.
These signs are a slap in the face to local communities. I have a couple of reasons why I really dislike them. 1) Pollution...they make communities look ugly and 2) I used to sell newspaper advertising (and still do internet advertising). Takes away from hardworking ad reps and the newspapers trying to stay afloat.
If you have a legit business, you should buy an ad like respectible businesses do. A simple classified or business card size ad would probably result in a better return. Or go spam Craigslist.
I would never do buisness with a business who blantantly disrespects my neighborhood. But I do understand, that if these signs didn't work, they wouldn't continue to be used.
For me, I plan on helping these careless vandals waste their time, money, gas and effort in my local area.
Here are the two signs I removed today. The yellow one is on plywood and looks like it took some time to hand paint. Three long nails were no match for my hammer...just five whacks! I will repaint it and I already checked, my shark stencil fits and will become some 'shark art' that I will post later!
There are still two signs on the telephone pole but they were too high. One corugated plastic (junk co) and the other plywood (sandblasting co). Peace.
