Overnight Tuesday, Kelly Kautz campaign signs disappeared.

The attorney has heard of sign stealing before. After all, she is involved in Snellville politics. But she was amazed that every single sign in a street or business location had been stolen. between 7:30 Tuesday and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Kautz, who is running for mayor, said she confirmed with the police chief and city manager that the signs had not been picked up in a city clean-up. Her opponent Barbara Bender's signs remained in place.

Even though Kautz had permission from several business owners, the signs were gone from North Road, Wisteria Road, Oak Road, Rockdale, Scenic Highway, Ashworth Road, and U.S. Highway 78.

"I understand that stealing signs happens a lot in political elections, but that does not make it right. This is petty behavior that is a crime," Kautz said. "What is so frustrating is that we are not talking about a few signs but all of the signs that my supporters had worked so hard to place throughout the city."

The signs cost $2 each, but Kautz plans to replace them. A number of volunteers have vowed to help, she said.

She filed a police report, and police are looking at surveillance tapes from some of the businesses.Lilburn candidates face offThe Lilburn Woman's Club is sponsoring a candidate forum Monday in Lilburn....
