"Update on our "Pole Patrol" project"

Hi all! Just wanted to update you on our "Pole Patrol" project. As you may know, Keep Stamford Beautiful has cut a deal with the Stamford Superior Court system to utilize offenders who have community service hours to perform. The "Court Client" is assigned to Keep Stamford Beautiful; meets with me and signs agreement and waiver of liability; is given garbage bags and safety goggles; and it's out in the field to collect posted signs. Each sign has a value of 1 hour of community service. For the period of June 1, 2002 through December 1, 2002, we had 13 "Clients" collect a total of 725 signs, and we have 10 "Clients" in the field at the present time with a total of 770 hours to complete. It' working!!!!!

Hey, good to hear from you again, especially when it's a message with good news.

Your idea of making people convicted of posting illegal signs remove other illegal signs to work off their community service is nothing short of brilliant.

Keep up the good work. Have you seen a decrease in the total number of signs in Stamford since the Herbalife ban in May?

What are you seeing for signs down there? We're getting mostly "affordable insurance" in this part of the state, and it's not near the volume it used to be.

Hang in there,

Redstone

Great job on having the signs removed by those who put them up. Would this also include political signs? Just wondering.

The original post does not say that the offenders are sign posters so I am assuming they may have committed any number of offenses other than sign posting. This is a great way to get community service credit hours. Getting one hour of credit for each sign is very generous. I could earn 50 hours credit in just a couple of hours here in Dallas area.

What qualifies as a "sign?" Does it include signs on sticks? Does it include garage sale or lost pet signs?

Again, what a great program.

I've had conversations with Rick in the past and (if I remember right) yes, the people in his program are not all people who got caught putting up signs (there wouldn't be enough to fill the program if this were the case), but some of them are.

We get assorted signage, the Work From Home and affordable health insurance seems to have almost vanished, lots of tag sales, and yes, political signage. The "Court Clients" are not necessarily the sign posters.
