"finally!"

Having a little problem with a persistent "life insurance agent". I took down one of his stupid "FINALLY! AFFORDABLE LIFE..." (you know the rest). Mega Life & Health. Took it down on Tuesday and Thursday another was in it's place. They're both resting in the same dumpster now.

These jerks are obviously not Herbalosers. Any chance of nuking them?

I think that's NASE (Nat'l Ass. of Self Employed)...red
and white signs - NASE logo on them?

If so, their web is www.nase.org and try sending email
with a copy of the relevant CT state law against pole
signs to advertising@nase.org.

Be nice, and inform them that what they're doing is
against the law in CT and they could be liable for fines
(as their corporate name is on the sign).

I got a nice reply back from someone real, who assured me they
would notify their posting crews.

Worth a try,
Peter

I don't know if it's the same guys. I saw some NASE signs up in the Buckland Hills area of Manchester. They are different from the FINALLY! AFFORDABLE HEALTH... signs with the name Mega Life & Health on them. Anybody know if it's the same group?

Pretty sure they're all the same clowns...they have a differenct insurance company behind the signs out West, but I think all the ones here are Mega / NASE.

When I have some time, I'm going to check the State website and find out if it's legal in the first place for these spammer losers to be selling insurance without a license...

Welcome back David -
Yep we're still here and have picked up an untold amount of Code Enforcement Officers since your last visit. Best choose your words with discretion.

Yep again, we've basically eliminated NASE in No. Texas and other places around the country. The CE's are onto their scam and signs, too.

However since you don't (won't) let any of our group post (expose) on your forum, do you really think we're going to reciprocate?

Like we said before, you can post your side of the issue as long as you keep it clean with no personal attacks or condescending remarks about CE.

Side Note to the Shark pool.
Guys - Be nice to David. One of his wannabes probably lost a thousand bandits in the last ten days, and is whining to David about this untold group that's killing his signs. Even eliminated 50 or 60 myself during the past week.

GW

Ahh, I see, so when someone posts something you don't agree with you silence them by putting their entire, thought provoking, logically thought out post into some "supression vault". Typical.

Well while you guys are out taking down road signs I'll be at the Red Sox games, enjoying time with my family, playing golf, watching movies, ya know, HAVING A LIFE.

David, when do you post your illegal signs?
On the way home from the game?
Do you get your wife and kids to help?

Where do you live? Maybe we can post some signs in your neighborhood! I am willing to bet that you just love it when you see tons of this crap all over the place! It must make you proud!

Look son! See that coroplast blight? I put that there!!

You are telling us to "get a life" yet you are the one out in the cover of night plastering illegal signs all over our neighborhoods.

Who needs to get a life? Look in the mirror, pal.

Why don't you get a real job that doesn't require illegal marketing techniques? You probably couldn't hold a *real* job and as a result you pretend to be an insurance agent. How exciting!!

Spare me.

>I got a nice reply back from someone real, who assured me they would notify their posting crews.

I really appreciate your effort and your post, but I would bet $100 that this reply of "we'll notify our posting crews" is a pure shuck to make you leave them alone.

First, I'll increase my bet to $1,000 that they don't have any such thing as a "posting crew." The signs are sparse enough to guarantee that they're put up by individuals, not a "crew."

Second, we'd all really like it if you would post the contact information so the rest of us can send complaints to the same person. Maybe if he or she gets enough emails, they'll figure out that we're on to them, and won't put up with their spamming any more than we put up with spamming by Herbalife "distributors."

These "affordable health insurance" people are our next target, so this information would help a whole lot.

I'm not sure if I "officially" welcomed you to CAUSS - if not, let me remediate that by doing so now. We're a little thin on the ground here in New england, so we do indeed appreciate the efforts and interest of new sharks.

As is the standing offer for all New England and nationwide sharks, I owe you a beer if you're ever in the Old Saybrook, CT area.

Check out the "Affordable Health Insurance" thread on the Colorado forum. There's some good information there. Also search the CAUSS forums for "MEGA" and "NASE".

Hope this helps,

Redstone et al.,
These guys are everywhere suddenly! I see their signs at exit ramps off I-91 in Wallingford (probably more as you go up 91) and I saw one at the exit ramp from Rt. 9 South onto Rt. 15 in Berlin (so probably every exit ramp in that area). And I started this off by telling you about the exit ramp in Tolland on I-84.
Can't we complain to somebody? Whose jurisdiction is this? The State Police? Ideas?

BTW, I took one down across Rt. 5 from Exit 13 off of I-91 but there are 3 more on the other side of Rt. 5 at that exit alone!

I tried the Dept of Consumer Protection. A Mr. Maloney replied, "You are correct this is a local zoning issue and needs
to be addressed at that level. What I am interested in and am reviewing are the claims that some of these companies make. Are they misleading or deceptive. I thank you for your input." When I responded that the land alongside highway exit ramps was state land and should be under somebody's jurisdiction at the state level, his response was "Very true, and I believe the Department of Transportation has jurisdiction over the sides of state roads."
More on this story as it develops...

Are these cretins excited by all the empty space left by the Herbalosers? I can't believe how many of these "FINALLY!" signs I've seen. Highway exits both North and South off of I-91 in Hamden, North Haven, Wallingford, Middletown, Hartford, off of I-84 in Tolland, Vernon, Manchester, off of Rt. 9 in New Britain/Berlin. I've gotten almost a dozen but I could probably tell you where I've seen a dozen more.

What's the plan, O Great One?

>Are these cretins excited by all the empty space left by the Herbalosers?

I think so, but also suspect that it's only one or two really ambitious insurance spammers - the new signs have colored ink, whereas the older ones were all black & white. I've glommed a bunch of them in this part of the state.

>What's the plan, O Great One?

Well, I guess the plan is for me to get off my lazy butt and do some investigating so we can put the pressure on the companies behind this the same way we did to Herbalife.

Until then, the best we can do is to keep cleaning. And, by the way, I've come around to your way of thinking on calling these people and telling them their signs are gone - I don't do it any more.

I think your opinion that it's better to not let them know where the signs are gone is right - that way they don't hustle right back to the cleaned-up areas and put up new ones.

And I bet it makes them nuts to see the signs missing and not know how long they've been gone.

More later. I'll be at the doctor in Hamden again today, so will help you out if I find any signs in the State / Dixwell area.

I went for the one at Skiff and Dixwell and it was gone but there was one on the other corner and another a little farther south on Dixwell. They're both gone, too, now. }>

I took care of the "block" around the I40 connector between State and Dixwell and Hartford Tpke yesterday morning. Checked both commuter lots from the road. Doesn't mean they won't be back there again today. Happy hunting.

You got all of them; nothing for me to grab after my Dr. appointment today.

But got a few along Rte. 80 in foxon on the way home.

Good work on your part. Thanks.

I picked up a few "affordable" signs in Manchester last week, and the last 4 digits of the phone number were sitckered with a new number, and the Endorsed by NASE and Underwritten by ... areas were covered by another sticker.

I'll post my inventory in the Spammers Info thread.
