The locals are copying the damn spammers! I've seen a lot of those step-stake signs recently. They are easy to lift and are usually gone by the time I get back.
But now the locals are doing the same thing! I've seen "College Pro Painters" in 2 spots in Hamden but they're gone now. There's one for another painting outfit in Hamden that I'm going back for tomorrow.
And I saw 2 for "Dale's Pools" in Vernon that I didn't have time to hit. He should be easy to find in the yellow pages and give him a call.

Yes, the spinoff is a big damn part of the problem, when the locals figure it's OK because the Herbalosers seem to get away with it. I even had to whack some signs put up on the legs of traffic signs by the local diner.
I, for one, don't care if it is a local business or not. Ugly is ugly, and down the signs go.
A look through the boards tells me that College Pro is using spam signs all over, so it's not just your local franchise. Complain to the corporate office; I'll do the same if they show up here.
Hamden was pretty clean when I went there last Wednesday - just a few on the northbound side of State Street near Skiff - I wsa going the other way so couldn't get them. I'll be back up there in a few weeks and I'll whack 'em then.

Hi Red and all my dear lovely spam-slashers.
STOP BEING SO IMPAITENT ABOUT THE SIGNS GOING DOWN!!!
No, Herbalife dist. will not need to take down the signs after April 30. It will obviously take a few months before the streets get cleaned completly - with your help.

Why not? If they put them there, and the corporate office knows they've been putting them there, why not require the "independent" distributors to remove them as well?

Based on my discussion with Sweeney at HerbaLife corporate, the policy provides for fines for distributor who have signs up after 4/30/2002. It doesn't matter when the signs were put up. I suspect distributors will take their own signs down after they get their first fine.
Of course, this is all based on HerbaLife doing what they say. I am still hopefull.
There are still new HerbaLife signs going up in the Dallas area and we are getting closer to 4/30.

Is this "cowboyclown?" If so, welcome back.
Actually, we were kind of hoping that the disties would have the common decency to stop putting up the signs now since the message from Herbalif is clear that the signs are not the right thing to do...sigh. I suppose that's too much to expect of people.
Our real concern now is that the signs are going to be replaced by even more obnoxious, widespread, and even outright dangerous methods (like the stupid stones-in-a-bag thing) being espoused by NWTW.
I am sure that you're familiar with NWTW's "new marketing methods," and realize that they'll litter our towns even more than the signs.
Why, why, why can't these people come up with any ideas that don't involve littering and the illegal use of others' property???

Haven't heard of that one being promoted yet.

No, I"m not familiar with NWTW's methods of advertising but I obviously did hear of them.

To refresh your memory, here's what we got from a friendly "mole" last week, who took it direct from a fax from NWTW:
1. ATM Flyers: 200 per week minimum. Stick hot pockets to ATM machines. Try to do these on weekends after the banks have closed. (Saturday afternoon and later).
2. Flyer Card Stoning: 750 per week minimum. Using your Work form flyer cards insert these into 3" by 4" zip lock bags with a few small stones and seat it up. Drive past the driveways in rural areas, and toss the bag onto the driveway.
There's even more, and worse. Just search for "theta" in the author field of the search function of this site.
What can I tell ya'???????
Probably only what we already know: Any business that has to be "marketed" almost exclusively through the use of sneaky, sleazy, low-rent methods isn't much of real income opportunity. Not that I care much about the "stiffing the rubes" aspect of the situation; I just want them to stop littering.
Red? you bet!! With your passion, it's quite shocking that you're not a red-head!
Righteous anger doesn't raise your blood pressure; it just makes you a more effective butt-kicking machine.
Redstone is one of my middle names, that's all - given that my old man was a full-blood Injun, I think the milkman would have had a WHOLE bunch of explaining to do if I'd been born with red hair.}>
