We've got a local store in East Windsor going of of business. Railroad Salvage (Can't say that I'll miss them.) is putting up flourescent pink signs along route 5 in East Windsor. I got 9 today from just 1 intersection. Traffic was a bit too heavy to get more.

The sign says "Sat, Sun, Mon" but it doesn't say which week.
The interesting part is at the bottom it says" Support local law enforcement - all signs will be removed Sun PM"
In Conn. stores running going out of business sales must get a license number with an end date so they don't continously run the 'sale' continously getting new merchandise in. The license COS620 is on the sign with the end date 9/20/02.
So I guess they feel that it's OK to break the law if they only do it for a few days.

Gee, things are getting quiet around here.
I got 13 Railroad Salvage signs this afternoon in East Windsor. They have a sticker on the signs that says "Final Weeks" of their going out of business sale.
Personally I hope they'll put up a vacant lot there. It'll be an improvement.
At one intersection I saw someone with a triple vertical sign. I thought I had come across someone putting them up, so I went around to the next highway exit to get more. When I came back he was still there with his sign and a few more single signs around him. It appears they actually hired a sign operator.
Man! I spent all the time and money to get my Master's degree, and I could have been a sign operator instead.

I got 12 Ames going of of business signs in Enfield today. There were lots more in the shopping district area.
They had the joke "Support local law enforcement - All signs removed by Sunday afternoon" printed at the bottom. I'm not sure if Ames is running the sale, or if they outsourced to a liquidator.
Since this is just the beginning of their leaving business process, I think they'll be back up every weekend for months.
Actually, I'll miss Ames. I liked shopping there and not having to go to stores that are acres in size. and hundreds of security TV cameras implying that I'm a thief. (WalMart)

I got 6 more Ames signs last weekend. 2 in Agawam MA and 4 in East Windsor. They're getting onoxious. There isn't even an Ames within 10 miles of the location I found the signs.
There were also 4 sign operators in 3 different towns. It must be expensive hiring those sign operators. The training program must be intense. They probably have to go through a federal background check just like when you apply to the CIA.
