"Jason Update"

Been quite busily sharking despite my lack of posts. I went and obtained a telescoping pole from home depot (goes to 20 ft.!) and but a longish fully threaded bolt in the end. Man that thing works great, and is a blast to use! 2 weeks ago Sat. Me and a friend did a heavy sweep down Rt 12 to Groton and then out Rt. 184 towards RI. Groton north of I-95 should be fairly well sanitized now. With no problem we entirly filled up the back of the car with signs, icgold.com in particular was a heavy infester.

A heavy pay-phone/free Job listing paper spammer has been noticed. This guy leaves business cards everywhere. Neal T. Wholey P.O. Box 28 Colchester, CT is spamming Excel Communications spam. Don't be fooled by the product. I met someone in the Navy several years ago and it's just the same old thinly veiled Pyramid as herble life and the rest of em.

Rt 32 has been a target a few nights now, as well as foreys into Groton and along Rt 12 to the north. The guy with the sign in his front yard has taken down the sign. This past week, I attempted Groton to the south of I-95, but it was late, and there were many signs. Hopefully I can rope my friend again for another Sat. free for all down there. He lives in Waterford, and says there is much spam there, as well as areas in New London. So maybe that will be next. Rt. 2 to the east of Norwich and out to RI also needs a sweep still.

mostly signs haven't re-appeard yet, but I'll continue to keep an eye out. It's kind of funny, out of the many 800 numbers I've called it seems to be only about 5 different recordings split amongst them.

I alerted my roomates to my actions and they are happy. One of them noted that he talked to a policeman about it, and they do ticket if they catch someone in the act.

Also of note, our weekly trash output has about doubled in volume since I started with this and indeed, our trashbin capacity is almost a limiting factor in the amount of signs I can collect.

since the area is starting to look much cleaner in the quiet cornet of the state. I'll begin to focus more down by work. This means Milford, the Havens, Oxford, maybe a streatch in Waterbury. Also may go north of home to Willimantic area and around Stores. I've given thought to trying to design a Public access TV anti-spam ad or maybe even a half hour program. I know a guy that used to work for the company that works in the wallingford Public access tv place. I'll check it out and see if I can get some public momentum behind this.

I've noticed that sometimes it's hard to see the spam because the brain tries to unconciously block it out. My roomate seems particularly succeptable to this phenomena. But I miss some too.

Cheers and happy sharking everyone,

~Jason

Good work. You don't have to worry about East Lyme / Niantic; it's clean as of today.

If the guy's putting his materials into freebie papers, you might try calling the paper and ratting him out - newspapers charge for inserts, and they probably wouldn't be very happ

I may be out that way next week; will clean up if I go.

Mostly a disgustingly chipper-sounding woman, right? It's either a shared "upline's" 800 number or they get the message as part of their spam tools package, like the website template that most of them use.

>I alerted my roomates to my actions and they are happy. One of them noted that he talked to a policeman about it, and they do ticket if they catch someone in the act.

I bet a lot of cops would love to catch one of these bozos, but I suspect that the spammers are REAL careful to check for nearby police when they're at work. And the police are spread pretty thin in this part of the state at night, so they'd have to get real lucky to happen upon one of the spammers.

Maybe the town would let you use the municipal dumpster, since you're helping them out by cleaning up litter.

Excellent idea about the PSA or TV segment...let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I don't do any video work, but I do own an advertising agency and photography studio, so there might be something we can do for this effort.

Or if they want to shoot some video of me striding across an intersection and ripping a sign down (I do it during the day), they can...I'm not afraid of the spammers knowing what I look like. Actually, if they saw me, they might be LESS likely to want to give me a hard time.

Happens to all of us. There's so much of it that it blends into the scenery, which of course means that it's not that effective a means for the spammers to to recruit new fools...not that this stops them.

Yeah, I was starting to wonder if you were a bat or something...but I don't sleep much either. It's a waste of good productive time to be unconscious for a third of every day.

Good to hear from you.
