I had the 10-speed out last night, and was cruising by West 13th Avenue and Umatilla Street in Denver.
Way up on a utility pole was one of those infamous "We Buy Junk Cars Signs."
I had to do something, but all I carry with me is a utility knife. That's not going to get much done in this case. I thought about calling 311, but I wanted a challenge.
So I looked around and found some pieces of wood and rocks. Making sure that people in cars didn't see me, I did an awkward 2-handed backward throw to hit the back of the sign probably 20 times. I whacked at it with a large stick. 3 more times with the rock and the sign went flying!
I then leaned it against a fence and kicked it in half.
Pretty crazy, and it took quite a while, but it was fun! I gotta say.
It would be good to hear about your stories about when you've been confronted with a sign that you HAD to remove, but didn't have the tools, but got it done anyway.

Hey, I saw one of those ugly signs last year. I had a painter's pole with me, but it wasn't sturdy enough to do anything. So I ran right over to the hardware store and got a 6' section of heavy electrical conduit. It whacked the sign down in no time at all!
