"A NEWER weapon to use."

If you are adverse to packing TSA-disapproved cutting instrtuments, go and buy a can of GOOF-OFF Graffiti Removal spray and take along a rag. A short spritz with this product, a quick wipe with the rag and certain numbers are rendered suddenly illegibe. Modern Technology again old filthy Spanners!

My objection to this method is that ugly signs still remain even though the payoff to the perp has been removed.

Yup, obliterated litter is still litter!

Oh, there's a hint of cool in the air, and Winter is coming! I've got to gather more firewood... And Sign stakes make great fire starters!

Exactly. This is good. It shows the spammer that they have been noticed in a bad way, and it demonstrates that we're not doing CE's job for them.

Removing their signs constistently also shows them in a "bad" way that their efforts are wasted.

But, removing the signs or removing numbers from the signs relieves your local CE's of having to do their job. They like that, a lot. I will continue to cut the sign in half and report it, once it is reported they have responsibility for removing it and the offender.
