"Denver Doesn't Remove Signs on Utility Poles"

I have noticed for a few months that several "We Buy Junk Cars" signs have been posted high on utility poles at 5th Avenue and Galapago Street.

I have called 311, Neighborhood Inspection, Right of Way, Public Works, etc. They all say the same thing - "we don't handle that."

Unbelievable.

It is unbelievable.

Illegal signs are handled by:
City and County of Denver, 200 W 14th, Denver CO 80204
Neighborhood Inspection 720.865.3200 7:30-4:30 m-f
Anna Valdez 720.865.3181 - direct line
Information 720.913.4900. Zoning 720.865.3000

Please contact Ms. Valdez. If she denies responsibility, please escalate to the city manager. Please post an update here.

Thanks, Shark. I just called Anna Valdez, and she said that they didn't handle that. She passed me to her boss, Joaquin Gonzales - the same guy who told me last week that his group doesn't deal with that kind of problem!

Amazing. No wonder the spammers are so busy in Denver.

I just sent a note to the mayor's office. I'll report back.

Finally, an answer from the city:

Thank you for writing Mayor Hickenlooper with your concerns. His office has forwarded your email to Public Works for response.

There is currently some disagreement as to which City Department will remove illegal signs on utility poles. Public Works appreciates that this issue has been brought to our attention and will workout the disagreement with our sister-agency.

As to the cars parking on the sidewalk along 6th Avenue. Denver Police Department's non-emergency number (720-913-2000) should be used to report illegal parking.

I hope this information proves helpful.

Someone who gets elected would be all over these insubordinates.

I went to my County Commissioner(s). One by one I hope to get them to wake up the person who get paid big bucks to keep our city streets clean of this trash.
