"New Crop in Denver"

I have been noticing for the past few weekends that there have been a lot of signs on West Alameda Avenue (west of Broadway) to Santa Fe Drive, up that street, and then along Elsworth Avenue to Kalamath Street.

There are LOTS of them.

Has anyone else seen them? Apparently there is a dirty old furniture store in the area that is closing shop....

I'll try to do some spring cleaning tomorrow AM.

Ahhhhhhh

Please do a forum search under Colorado and General forums for Avenrich Furniture. They spammed the hell out of 4-5 cities about 5 years ago. CE got them to quit - Littleton told them "one more sign and you're going to court."

Please contact Denver CE on this issue. That is the only effective way to shut down these spammers.

I'm not sure how to reach Denver CE, but I called Neighborhood Support Services, and mentioned that they were having a sidewalk sale for 3 weekends in a row. I thought I might get them on that.

But then I realized that they only do their sale and spamming on weekends - when there is no code enforcement.

Surprising, but true....

Right - the California based liquidation companies have the system nailed. They put up signs on Fri night and remove then Sun.

However, it is CE's responsibility to deal with this plague, and past results show that CEs in other cities have done so very well.

Contact Neighborhood Inspection, listed below:

Available from 411:
City/County of Denver
Information 720.913.4900
Zoning 720.865.3000
Signs are handled by:
City and County of Denver, 200 W 14th, Denver CO 80204
Neighborhood Inspection 720.865.3200 7:30-4:30 m-f fax: 720.873.3287
Anna Valdez 720.865.3181 direct line

General email denvergov@ci.denver.co.us
Website contains code: http://www.denvergov.org/ then go to neighborhoods -> neighborhood services -> neighborhood inspection.

You may view the entire Sign Code (Section 59-536 DRMC) on the Internet at www.denvergov.org – On the DenverGov homepage, click on “Business”. Open the Denver Municipal Code and go to “Section 59-537”. You may also purchase a copy of the Sign Code from the Cashier in the Permit Center, 200 W. 14th Ave., Denver, CO 80204.

Hope this helps,

Well, I contacted Anna Valdez, and not only has the problem not been fixed, they have even more signs than before.

I guess Denver doesn't take this kind of stuff seriously.

I'll write to the mayor's office next, and I'll mention the lack of response from CE.
