"We Buy Junk Cars signs need ongoing attention" Tue Dec-25-07 08:40 AM by DenverShark
Folks:
A repeat offender places 2' square white coroplast signs about 6-10' high on telephone poles. The signs say We Buy Junk Cars. It's a cat and mouse game - after he finds that his signs have been sharked, he places new signs back on top of the old signs.
This offender hits mostly older neighborhoods in East Denver toward Aurora - and only neighborhoods with telephone poles. Streets include: Parker, Leetsdale, Iliff, Yale, Quebec, Hamden. He has also hit 6th Ave west and Hamden west.
Like most spammers, he has routes that he follows. He will spam a main street like Iliff and then go off on a major side street like Quebec.
Please get this spam wherever you see it. And in addition, please report locations and approximate dates on this thread so that we can monitor his spamming.
After a while, he will figure out how easy it is to shark a sign (it takes seconds) compared to how much time it takes him to put up the sign.
It would help if folks could drive some of the major E-W cross streets like East Colfax, 6th, Alameda, Mississippi, as well as the main N-S streets in East Denver and Aurora.

Charlotte NC has been littered with these signs for years now. There are 2 or 3 steady spammers, and a few fly by night junk car buyers. I remove every sign I find and flood them with junk phone calls.

Hmmm - must be another get rich quick scam. It simply amazes me: I can remove (or shark for that matter) one of those signs in literally seconds with my trusty sharky stick. It must take them ten times as long to put them up.

We've had problems with "We Buy Cars - Running or Not", in the DFW area since day one.
They'll get real active, then lay low for a while. It's an on/off situation. You' just have to keep the signs sharked so they'll get the point, then go back and clean up the remains after a few days.
