"Yo, Flaco!"

That name and Herman's Hideaway, where the group plays, have to be responsible for the greatest messing up of phone and utility poles around central Denver. Whenever that group is scheduled to play there, hundreds of 8 X 11" flyers are taped up all over the place. Capitol Hill is particularly trashed with them. Can anything be done about either the group or the venue?

Can't we get some councilperson to sposor some anti-spamming legislation with TEETH in it? Other communities have such laws and get them enforced, too. What's wrong around here? Sure, it's nice for Mayor Hick to say he's going to create a "business-friendly" environment. I don't believe he meant that would permit businesses to illegally post advertising willy-nilly all over the place. What goes? Has any local CAUSS member ever tried to get a councilman or woman to step up and finally just say NO to the crap we've been cutting, picking and cleaning up for far too long?

Haifisch again.

Sounds like this needs an "event canceled" sticker. Maybe they'll get the hint when it costs them more than the fliers.

I just love the "event cancelled" idea. It's like taking cash out of the pockets of the promoters.

It does have a certain appeal to it!

Try Scotch 77 spray adhesive.

The "event canceled" idea is GREAT. However, if you were caught placing an "event canceled" sticker over the sign, could you be charged with graffiti?

Not any more than the criminals who posted the illegal signs. I have never heard of a graffiti charge being levied against illegal street spammers.

Right. And if you're posting something on a pre-existing
illegal sign/banner, is it really the same as posting it
on a wall?

I'd think you'd want to worry more about being caught by
Yo Flaco than someone from the City.

I just want to do the right thing (you know the little white angel on my shoulder is watching) and it’s clear to me now that the right thing is to post "EVENT CANCELED" on these type of signs.

I have noticed this for a long time.

Does anyone know where "Event Cancelled" stickers can be bought on the Internet? I will start working on Yo Flaco!

Forget about Denver's USELESS mayor - I have written to his office before about the hundreds of of "Summer Jobs for The Environment" signs with not much interest and no results.

Hi:

You can make CAUSS stickers or other types of stickers yourself. Print up the sticker wording on your computer (few words, big letters). Take it to your local copy shop and copy it onto colored paper. Cut to size as desired.

Go to the hardware store and buy some Scotch 77 spray. Enjoy! (Hot water and soap will remove excess spray from your hands).

Regarding CAUSS stickers: some folks like 'em, some folks hate 'em. But they worked wonders in Denver about 4 years ago when we were ramping up here.

Regarding Event Cancelled stickers: CAUSS does not take a position on these nor does CAUSS recommend them. The reason is because of (unlikely) possible legal action by the illegal spammer.
