"Fremont area being covered!" Thu Apr-03-08 02:26 AM by Fremont CA Shark
I've been sign sharking for several months now and just found your site. Great job (though I don't see too much recent activity.) I just wanted to sign up and let everyone know that I'm taking on spammers in Fremont. I've pulled a lot of stake signs and am getting better and faster. I've made a few phone calls to the spammers as you suggested. A few seem to get it. Most though, don't care.
By the way, I was surprised to get a call back the other day. I called one of the We Buy Houses numbers from my cell phone with call blocking on. I left a message telling them their signs in Fremont would continue being removed. A couple weeks later, I got a call from someone saying I called and left a message about selling my home. They obviously didn't have the actual message, but somehow they got my number despite it being withheld. That was a little uncomfortable.
Lastly, after a couple reports, the CE got a local business to take down 5 a-frame signs they had all around their perimiter. Also a big ugly neon yellow banner sign. Way to go, Fremont CE! You ROCK!
Hopefully we can work together again soon to address the local businesses using illegal signage.
P.S. Those Tattoo Expo spammers are pretty impressive. I found a couple signs in a strip mall that were 15-20 feet up the pole!!!

Thanks, Gozer. That was me. Give me a honk and a thumbs up next time.
There are some illegal A-frames where the kart signs were that need removing as well. Those are pretty big and often locked down though, so I turn those over to Code Enforcement. (Though I'm thinking of giving merchants a copy of the city's sign placement criteria (which says NO PORTABLE SIGNS IN FREMONT) to see if they would remove them voluntarily.)
I haven't snagged the Tattoo Expo sign you mentioned. Let me know if it's still there and I'll see what I can do when I get that way again. Sounds like I'll need the jumbo sharky for that one!

Thanks for anything you can do to rid your area of those Tattoo Expo signs. I have removed literally hundreds in Southern California over the past five years. They hold their show in Pomona in July and December and litter all of Southern California with their illegal signs.
The show producers are dumb as rocks, too, because I've called them each time to warn them their signs will come down if placed, and later when they have been removed.
If you need contact information for the show sponsors, just let me know.
The signs are large placards (two color and on heaving wooden stakes) so I am quite sure the signs cost $10 or more. Nice financial hit to the pocketbook of these perennial spammers when hundreds of their signs end up in the garbage.

Thanks for the encouragement. However, since the expo here just wrapped up a week ago, it just feels like cleaning up their mess after they got full use out of their spam. Very frustrating that they continually get away with this.

Thanks for your efforts. I use a tracfone to contact street spammers. Pay cash for the phone (about $15 in Walmart) and always pay cash for phone cards. It is untraceable. If you encounter a really stubborn street spammer, call all the other spammers, and tell them to call the stubborn guy, he wants that product of service. Soon his phone is ringing off the hook, and they hate it when their time is wasted. Look forward to hear from you again.
