HRBlock is posting illegal street spam signs in Arizona!!!
I removed a bunch of signs advertising a tax course and a day later the signs were back. I removed these new signs with the exception of one sign in a busy intersection that now has a bright orange, "Remove this ILLEGAL Sign" sticker.
I called their 800 number and the lady said that HRBlock had permission to post their signs. I disagreed and she asked for the ZIP Code and then claimed that they permission from the City of Mesa to post their signs! I know for a fact that Mesa is not going to give them permission for roadside coroplast signs! The Mesa codes don't allow it!
I told the lady that there is no way that they could have permission to post these signs and then she gave me the local phone number for the Mesa office. It is closed right now.
I told her to make a note that this illegal sign posting will be likely to hurt HRBlock's coorporate reputation.

I don't recall seeing H&R Block specifically. Others, however, pop up before the tax deadline in Feb/Mar/April. They usually appear in and near the office, often lining the parking lots of strip centers. If they were advertising for a tax course, I suspect they want to train people to "pose" as tax preparation specialists for the next tax season. A part of the training is probably how and where to put out signs during the regular season.

Just got this response from H&R BLock:
Dear Sir/Madam: We are in receipt of your e-mail inquiring about the placement of H&R Block signs in your area. Generally speaking, we advise our District Managers involved with signage to comply with all local and state laws and ordinances. Your correspondence has caused us to investigate this matter further and we will again follow up with our District Managers to make sure they are fully educated on our signage policy.
In the meantime, it would be helpful if you could forward along the general locations where you have seen such signs so we can further increase awareness to those areas.

I saw a few H & R signs last spring. The first one was out in the open and very obvious. Code enforcement took care of it promptly. In the attached picture, you will see a 2nd sign two weeks later. This sign is green to match the bushes, and has a directional arrow to make it look better. The Local code enforcement issued a notice of violation on this one as well, and compliance has been the result. Out of many office locations in my immediate area, this is the only one I ever noticed using spam.

Now they are getting worse. They have actually put up larger coroplast signs. These signs are approximately three feet high by five feet wide. These are even on freeway on-ramps in violation of state law.
These people are real stupid. I don't understand why they would get even worse after being advised that they are breaking the law.
Tax professionals who knowingly break the law? Who would have guessed it?
