Sgt. Greg Carr, 44, has been on the Chandler police force for 19 years and has overseen code enforcement since 2003. He recently directed a citywide sweep of illegal signs, and he works with neighborhood groups to eliminate blight.

How many signs did you confiscate last week, and what happened to them?

"We probably confiscated more than 650 signs. Most went to the landfill. The problem is they go up as fast as we take them down, but we are going to start issuing citations."

It's always good to hear when a police officer gets involved in the sign fracas on a proactive stance.

We have several of those in the DFW area and they do write citations anytime a spammer is observed placing bandit signs.

There is also another very proactive CE person in the Chandler area.
