I saw the funniest thing today. There was a sign on a street post at 88th Ave and I-25 in Thornton, Co. The sign said "Become a homeowner for $500." Over the phone number on the sign there was yet another piece of paper that had this web address on it. It claimed that the paper underneath it was illegal. Does that mean that the causs.org sign is also illegal? If the first sign is illegal, then I would be sure that so would causs.org. Is this your way of taking the law into your own hands by breaking the same laws that you are trying to stop others from breaking? OK, so I am trying to understand why you people have nothing better to do that build a website and go around "POSTING YOUR OWN SIGNS" on street corners trying to fight against the rest of the public on an issue that affects NOBODY. I have spoken with an Adams county judge here in Thornton, CO and he said there were no laws on the books about street postings or "spam" as you call it. The only way it is illegal is if it falls off the post and hits the ground. Then it is littering. Even then, if the material is biodegradable, it has to be in excess of .5 Lbs. of material. So, where does the "It's illegal" come in on your campaign? Also, do you people feel that it is right to try to persecute every day folks and small businesses for free enterprise? A lot of money is spent on advertising these days and a lot of small businesses are just trying to turn a profit, let alone have an advertising budget. Why don't you people do something good for the community and quit wasting everyone's time?

Hi:
Glad we could add a little humor to your day.
> There was a sign >on a street post at >88th Ave and I-25 in >Thornton, Co. The sign >said "Become a homeowner for >$500." Over the phone >number on the sign there >was yet another piece of >paper that had this web >address on it. ... >If the first sign is >illegal, then I would be >sure that so would causs.org.
Check with Code Enforcement. We work closely with CE in metro-Denver cities.
> Is this your way >of taking the law into >your own hands by breaking >the same laws that you >are trying to stop others >from breaking?
No, it's our way of getting rid of illegal street spam. See our FAQ.
>OK, so I am trying to >understand why you people have >nothing better to do that >build a website and go >around "POSTING YOUR OWN SIGNS" >on street corners trying to >fight against the rest of >the public on an issue >that affects NOBODY.
Oh - that's because we care about our community and we don't want illegal signs on our street corners.
>I have spoken with an Adams >county judge here in Thornton, >CO and he said there >were no laws on the >books about street postings or >"spam" as you call it.
Check with Code Enforcement - that's their job.
>Also, do you people feel that >it is right to try >to persecute every day folks >and small businesses for free >enterprise?
Yes. If someone puts up an illegal sign that is an eyesore in our community, you bet well work to eliminate it. We have removed thousands of signs over the last few years. Imagine what every corner would look like if we hadn't done so. Oh, I forgot - there's a picture of one of those corners on our website.
> A lot of >money is spent on advertising >these days and a lot >of small businesses are just >trying to turn a profit, >let alone have an advertising >budget.
So it's ok for them to break the law and trash our communities?
> Why don't you >people do something good for >the community and quit wasting >everyone's time?
We do. Please desist from putting up your illegal signs.

Glad that you see some humor in the situation. If it bothers you all that much then take it down, that's what most folks do after it's been disabled for a couple of days. Checked with a county judge, did you? Really no need for that, pull up the state laws and city codes, they're on the web.
When the spam disappears, so do the stickers. If you're not part of the solution, then you must be part of the problem.

You guys are all about as pathetic as it gets. Listen to this everybody! These are the type of people that support this organization. "Why do we exist? ... Because people like YOU exist." - SoOrshark.
What? Are we in third grade? That's the best you could come up with? HA!
The simple truth is that you people are not doing a service. You think that you are, and I feel sorry for you. Why don't we worry about something a little more worthwhile? Street spam, you guys are hilarious. This is a form of simple advertising. Are you guys going to go after people who put up giant billboards on highways? Are you going to go after the kid with a lemonade stand sign down the street? Are you gonna go after the old folks who put up a garage sale sign on the corner? Here's one? How about all of those freakin' campaign signs that cludder the street medians? Now, those are an eye-sore with no real benefit to anyone.
Quit wasting people's time. What gives you the right to put your signs up advertising your website? Hippocrates!
P.S. I have never put a sign up on a street corner in my life. "Because people like YOU exist." - SoOrshark. Pathetic...

Rubicon,
I agree with your views on stickering, but I don't believe you when you say you've never posted a sign.
If you plant one on a street corner in my area, consider it dead, plucked, and sublimated as soon as I spot it. I won't even give you the satisfaction of an "Art Was Here" sticker.

Either he: a.) is lying; b.) paid some high school kid to put them out for him at 2:30 in the morning; or c.) nails them up on utility poles. In any case, he's *definitely* a street spammer who has lost signs and sales due to our efforts. Good!!!

Are you guys serious right now? I have never hung any signs on street corners. I saw this sign on the intersection where I work from this poor guy just trying to cell his house. Then I see some a-hole put their "sticker" as you call it (I call it "litter without a causs") over his sign. Did this help the problem? No. So, I figured I would visit your little website and voice my opinion. A few of you have actually voiced your insights back to my inquiries and some make sense. But, you two are just dumb-asses. You can't give me any credible debate so you have to accuse me of something that I have already said I have not done. You are the one's I call pathetic! ELKMAN and remora : Way to go. Thanks for providing good debate on a subject you feel strongly about. GW, Art, and havehoewilltravel : Why don't you put a little thought into that feces you drop onto your keyboard?

Sorry; you won't bait me to participate in a childish name-calling contest. You have every right to your opinion, and I feel honored and privileged to live in a country where you can express it freely. Your opinion doesn't change mine, however - that the illegal posting of street spam is a blight upon our beautiful cities, potentially dangerous to motorists, and should be eradicated. I'm doing my part to help my community by cleaning up this trash. Perhaps you're already volunteering in your community; if not, I encourage you to find a cause you believe in and support it.

I do have a cause. It's called the United States Marine Corps. I actually do something. I am here to fight so that the people of our great nation can put up street spam if they feel like it. People like me, my dad, and his dad fight for your freedoms and you guys bitch and complaing about everything and try to get laws made so that people can't enjoy their freedoms. Way to go. Keep working against the people that are dying for you!

Interesting. I thought our armed forces started out so our country could be free from rule by an oppressive kingdom that didn't give us representation. I thought our armed forces were there to fight against attacks from foreign nations, to fight against the threat of communism, and to keep the peace in troubled countries. I thought our armed forces were fighting for the right to preserve the American democratic system and to ensure the rule of law, as passed by a representative democracy.
So now I find out that our armed forces have really been fighting for the right to put up signs saying "WORK FROM HOME" or "I BUY HOUSES" or "LAWNS LEVELED - FRESH, ORGANIC DIRT". I think I'm going to find the school teachers who taught my American history and ask them to do a little bit of explaining. I'll even go back and find the producers of "Schoolhouse Rock" and have them explain to me why "I'm Just A Bill" doesn't really hold true.
