The bandits are on the loose again.
With the summer approaching, Sussex County roadsides are again seeing an explosion of illegal "bandit signs" to steer visitors to developments with lots and homes for sale.
The signs have been outlawed for more than two decades, but were the subject of a crackdown in 2008 after complaints that they were eyesores and traffic hazards. Despite the law, they have continued to sprout.
Sussex County said this week it has confiscated 670 signs since January, putting it on pace to haul in more than 2,000 signs this year alone.
