I'd like to collect any experience people have in contacting Dallas CE Department or in using the "311" service to report or inquire about illegal signs. Let me know what you reported, how you reported it, who you talked to (if known), aprox. when reported, and any followup you initiated or received. You can either post it here or email or private message me the details.
McKinsey & Co. recently completed an assessment of city services and the effectivness of the way the city is organized. The brief reports in the newspaper say that, among other things, the city needs to do a much better job in code enforcement in terms of responding to complaints, following-up, and taking action against violators.
Maybe code enforcement department management and staff will now be more responsive to cooperation with CAUSS and other citizen sharks.

I wrote about my contact with them a few weeks ago in a thread entitled "Dallas Code Compliance: Success (?)"
At that time, the title ended in a question mark because I wasn't sure if the action by Dallas CE had actually done any long-term good. However, the signs have not reappeared -- so not only was I impressed with their attitude and responsiveness, I'd have to give them an "A" for their effectiveness as well.
