"sign law?"

I keep hearing about the new bandit sign law and end user law that is suppose to be in effect soon in Texas. Can someone let me know what is the real deal. I am pulling about 50+ signs a week still and hoped the end-user law would be in place by now.

I spulled about 30 signs recently in fort Worth and then called the number. The man who answered said he was a Remax Realtor. He shouted many explitives when I informed him I pulled his well placed signs. He threatened me and said he was coming after me and to "F" me and the causs org. I listened politely and then asked him to hold for a sec while I conference-called the City of North Richland Hills Police Department. He hung up when he heard them come on the phone.

I keep seeing the signs and really hoped some citations could be issued soon to these folks. If anybody wants to take a shot at these folks, let me know.

I would just like to know if there is any real legal precedent taking place which will put the bandit sign business out of business.

Thanks for the feedback...

There were 3 relevent bills in the Texas State House of Reps this last season. I think they were HB 599, 600 & 601. One was rejected pretty early, but two of them went pretty far through the system, but I think they failed at the last minute. You can review these in more detail at:

http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlo/legislation/bill_status.htm

Just put in the bill number (ie hb599) and choose 79th Regular session.

Contact your reps and senators and maybe this kind of legislation can be successful in the near future.

It was my understanding that the last two were basically tabled due the extreme controversy that was being debated over the Texas Education bills.

Anyone following Texas politics should be aware of all the stink that has come from this on going controversy and how the tax based is applied to reflect on one single group of tax payers.

In other words, the sign bills didn't have enough significance to come up ahead of the Ed bills. There were some provisions that a group of representatives didn 't particulair like and wanted further information as to the bottom line of legal ramifications.

I don't know this to be completely true, the information was passed to me from someone that follows Texas politics to a "T".
